It would be interesting to know the truth as to why Republicans continue to lie about the 2020 election being ‘stolen.’

It may be a coping mechanism in response to Trump’s election loss; Trump being voted out of office after the 2016 ‘miracle’ was just too painful, Trump’s loss was also confirmation that 2016 was a mistake corrected by the voters in 2020, making the ‘miracle’ much less miraculous.

It could be childish ‘defiance’ on the part of Republicans, an infantile temper-tantrum the consequence of having lost control of the WH (perceived by Republicans as their birthright) and being ‘cheated’ out of eight years of control of the presidency.

We do know that much of it has to do with the right’s war on democracy – to undermine our democratic institutions and undermine the political process, causing voters to lose confidence in the political process and abandoning the process perceived by conservatives as beneficial to Republican candidates.

It’s a classic rightwing fascist tactic: repeat a lie often enough until it’s perceived to be ‘true.’
