One of the most versatile and lethal aircraft of the Luftwaffe during World War II, the Junkers Ju-87 has been tested in numerous versions. Those are great pics showing both pre-war prototypes and wartime production models. Thanks for posting.

Hans Ulrich Rudel wrote an EXCELLENT book "Stuka Pilot" about his experience flying Stukas for the Luftwaffe.
 
One has to remember that Goering was a pilot in WWI and paid close attention to German aircraft. The hindrance to further improving them came from Der Fuehrer.
 
Apparently the under powered engine and fixed landing gear made the Stuka a slow easy target but it was effective on bombing runs if it could reach the target without being shot down.
