Student Loan Forgiveness

This should be under EDUCATION…..correct?

WHY IS THIS IN POLITICS?!

I AM TRIGGERED!

Wouldn't this be an accurate description in many or most cases? How come? Personally, I think the left's actions are never right pardon pun. They reward laziness, poor decisions, and send negative messages to invite more of it, training for less from the public, and their support.

Other than the Democrats rewarded with most of the support as result, why would the left reward bad behavior? To create an environment for a dumbing down to weaken the public economically and socially, so the top has more control over YOU.

My daughter will finish at a good University for free. Previous University free as well. She has an AAA personality though, plays it right. Full academic scholarship, to finish her last year and a half. Prior scholarship, and grants. She's already nailed a paid internship, with the city's largest (BIG) accounting firm, starting Jan. In the meantime, she's paid $38 an hour to assist on a hospital floor, filling in shifts when she can. I only help with parking, and some rent coming up. She's my mom x 1.2, skips a generation, sorta, figure she's earned it?

Compare and contrast to attending 100K for woke, antisemite, anti-science, and deny history Universities, for degrees in liberal trash. Awesome plan, 400K gets a govt. job herding welfare, homeless, drug addicts, and convicts. Jobs you can nail without a high school diploma, ask me how I know........FUCK, Karen's everywhere. The Democrats receive most of the support for their effort.

What about Trump? He's going to FORCE credit card companies to lower the interest they charge to 10% when the agreed upon rate was more than 10%. How's that any different than student loan forgiveness?

And the only one Biden is screwing is the government. Trump's screwing private companies. Imagine if Biden or Kamala did such a thing. Like take on price gouging.

What price gouging,?

What about Harris and Soviet style price controls? What about Harris and tax on unrealized gains?

You don't understand that student loan forgiveness is nothing of the kind? It's illegal transfer of debt to the public and adds to the national debt.

They know and couldn't care less, they want to be a third world country!

I'm asking about Trump capping credit card interest at 10%. You cool with that soviet tactic?

And how many students get a free ride like that?

Dozens? Maybe a few thousand?

The rest are paying near full rate loans that are guaranteed and not subject to banker laws

What a scam those banks have going
But you’re good so fuck en all huh?

Bwahahahaha

Are you really that stupid or that dishonest…
25% unrealized capital gains will make people pay money they can't and then the house will be foreclosed on simp

Bwahahahaha

Are you really that stupid or that dishonest…

Here are some of the problems with taxing unrealized gains:
Slippery Slope. Once the mechanism for collecting this tax from the ultra-wealthy is established, it will inevitably be extended to people of lower net worth.
  • Valuation. The price of an asset is unknowable before it is sold, and the government would be incentivized to manipulate valuations to the upside by the desire for tax revenue.
  • Liquidity. Taxpayers would be forced to liquidate assets in order to pay tax on unrealized gains, and these liquidations would destroy wealth for other people who own shares of the same asset, or assets in the same class.
  • Asset Inflation. A tax on unrealized gains gives those with influence over monetary policy the power to directly confiscate the property of private citizens.
  • Capital Flight. Wealthy people have the resources to minimize their exposure to any form of wealth tax, even by moving en masse to a new jurisdiction. It has happened before and it would happen again.
  • “Capital Punishment.” There’s a saying that governments should “tax what they want to see less of.” As a purely behavioral matter, a tax on capital accumulation discourages wealth building and the deferral of consumption.
  • Unspoken Motivation. Taxing unrealized gains would generate only a tiny amount of revenue compared to federal deficits. By process of elimination, the real motivation for this proposal must be punitive in nature.

The government didn’t loan the money.

Banks did and the government guaranteed they’d get repaid. No other loan in the nation is like that. All have a default rate.

And that rate is baked into the interest charged

The “trick” here is that they bear zero risk but still bake that cost into the loans

Huge scam.

Guess who figured out the “ huge scam” decades ago?

The leftist universities. They know they get paid no matter what. That’s why they created all the worthless degrees.

I don't disagree.

But the previous premise was that banks would be left holding the bag with the loans not repaid. That's what I disagreed with. The government will be paying off the remainder of the loan (banks are made whole) and the "forgiven loan" is moved to government debt. Meaning it's they taxpayers that will pay more.

That banks, my lose some profit (interest), but they don't loose principle.

WW
Those loans SHOULD have been super low interest considering the lack of risk on them.

Most are at or near market rate

It’s not being dumped on anyone. Greedy ass banks take the hit.

Banks are. Banks that have been charging market rates on loans that are not a risk (since they can’t be defaulted on).

And they have this huge pool of these loans.

Guaranteed student loans should be at less than 2%. Not the 5-6-7% they they are.
Oh boo hoo. You made poor decisions about loans you agreed to repay.

You're such an entitled leech you assume your debt should be dumped on others.

BTW those "greedy bank" loans are secured by the federal government.

My car loan bill is due next week. I'll expect you to post your credit card number to pay for it. I deserve forgiveness and expect someone else to pay my debts.

Your car loan is not guaranteed by the government

That means risk

Risk that they don’t have with education loans.
