Speaker of the House gives history lesson to reporter.

There is no Constitutional basis for Separation Church/State. As a matter of fact it is the opposite of the 1st Amendment freedom of religion. The concept was invented by the Supreme Court in the late 40's to give the government control over the religious based schools that were springing up at the time. The majority opinion was written by (former?) KKK member Justice Black who was appointed by FDR.

As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion, - as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen, - and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries. - John Adams, November 4, 1796, Treaty of Peace and Friendship, Signed at Tripoli. The Barbary Treaties 1786-1816

This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it. - John Adams, “The Adams-Jefferson Letters: The Complete Correspondence Between Thomas Jefferson and Abigail and John Adams”
Boom. It does not get more clear than that.

"As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion".

Wrong.

The Founding Fathers thought freedom of religion was so important that they addressed it in the 1st Amendment to the Constitution. The Jefferson letter is as meaningless as his alleged belief in slavery and has nothing to do with the Constitution.

Seeing that Jefferson is a Founding Father, his explanation of the separation of church and state is completely relevant, unlike your ignorant opinion.

I'm not a Christian.
But you, you can't reach the peace that surpasses all understanding. And I know why
God doesn't deny anyone peace that surpasses all understanding. you wouldn't know that though because you're not a Christian.

This doesn't surprise me at all. Liberals still believe in the phony separation of church and state. The word of the year for 2023 should be "misnomer."

---CNBC Anchor Gets A History Lesson On Separation of Church and State---

The Speaker is as ignorant as most Americans are -- most Americans on all sides of the arguments regarding the state and it's relationships with/to religion. Americans generally fail at knowing, let alone understanding the history of the North American colonies, and what became the USA.

Funny that we Americans have developed one of the best places to live in the world. You have truly spoken from a place of ignorance

And that is exactly what has happened. Many Christians have allowed politics to poison their faith.

Like you, for example.

You have been led astray by one of the most depraved people ever to occupy the White House.

And for what?

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Not at all, you have just been brainwashed for so long you do not understand. You believe good is evil and evil is good

They are implied. You clearly have not read Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptists.

He made it every clear the meaning behind the first amendment was to separate church and state.

I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State.
Oh screw your implied, it doesn't even come close, it's about what the government can't do, not Christians, it isn't in the constitution. It

Actually your 'we' had nothing to do with any of it. It was long ago ancestors of some of us.

Question: Do you like Trump? MAGA? Because it is all based on claims that America is not great -- anymore. Who's fault would that be? Not the long ago ancestors, but dipshit whitey's like you.
