Spain eases opposition to Scottish EU membership

Britain doesn’t need to be in the EU to recognize independent Catalonia.

Catalonia won't leave the Spain if it can't stay in the EU. Only EU states have a say in that.
It is your opinion. To know for sure whether it is correct or not there need to be a referendum.

No, it is fact. Not an opinion.

""The Catalan vice-president said that the government was "convinced that [it] can win the referendum" and that Catalonia can become an EU member "as a new republic in a process of internal enlargement of the EU".

"We are members of the European Union, we are European citizens and this process to incorporate Catalonia in EU institutions has to be automatic," he said.""

Catalonia seeks EU support for secession vote
Catalonia won't leave the Spain if it can't stay in the EU.
The article you linked doesn’t say this. The Catalan authorities hope that Catalonia will become an EU member automatically. It won’t be the case, apparently. But they still want to hold a referendum.

The article states unequivocally that Catalonia will leave Spain only if EU membership is automatic.
It is your opinion. Don't agree.

Britain will take any action necessary to guard Gibraltar from any Spanish threats to gain sovereignty over the rock, Michael Fallon has said. Britain will defend Gibraltar 'all the way', Defence Secretary vows

Gibraltar needs more than the UK garrison and naval base to survive economically so they will probably willingly negotiate an arrangement with Spain to maintain its EU status.
Not......Unless you have some info from a credible source.....
Britain Reaffirms Commitment To Gibraltar Post Brexit – gCaptain
Johnson said in a statement: “The people of Gibraltar have repeatedly and overwhelmingly expressed their wish to remain under British sovereignty and we will respect their wishes.

“We will never enter into arrangements under which the people of Gibraltar would pass under the sovereignty of another state against their wishes.

He added: “Furthermore the UK will not enter into any process of sovereignty negotiations with which Gibraltar is not content. We will continue to take whatever action is necessary to safeguard Gibraltar, its people and its economy including maintaining a well-functioning Gibraltar-Spain border.”

How about Gibraltar's chief minister?

"Brexit poses an “existential threat” to Gibraltar’s economy, the chief minister of the British territory Fabian Picardo told the BBC Saturday.

While Britain’s full departure from the EU, including from the union’s single market, could be a “disastrous exit for the United Kingdom, [it] would be an existential threat” for the service-based economy of Gibraltar, Picardo said.

A deal needs to be struck to keep the territory in the single market despite U.K. divorce from the EU, he added."

Facts are not opinions. "Catalonia in EU institutions has to be automatic" does not leave much room for discussion.

As I said before it is the wishes of Catalan officials. They (officials) are working to organize a referendum about independence. It is basically all that the article says. Everyone can have their own view about this. The further discussion about this matter is pointless.

What does Hadrian's wall have to do with the Welsh? If you haven't a clue, don't post.

It's not unreasonable to expect a provincial to have no understanding of the history of the island. So I'll help you.

Hadrian, Emperor of Rome, built a wall to separate the insane Scots from England. It worked.

But Hadrian did not recognize the potential danger of the savages infesting the dank valleys of Wales so built no wall to contain them. If he had the Welsh likely would still be living in a dark age, sacrificing infants to imaginary Gods and, praise The Lord, would not have a clue what a computer is or how to use one.

To his folly, that.

The poor Scots don't want independence. Probably 60% want to remain in the U.K. The other 40% want to bow and scrape to Brussels. All in all Scots are terrified of independence.
But I think the EU would let them in if it comes to that. Brussels has been humiliated by Britain and they know Britains economy will surge now. Splitting the U.K. Would be a last spiteful act.

How will Britains economy surge ?
I would love some reassurance on this.

Does Spain want its ass kicked that bad?

It wouldn't be Spain. It would be the EU.
