An Astronaut experiences an alien life force while investigating a bright cloud that appeared near Saturn.
The movie has many oddities, such as apparently Czechoslovakia is the world power, yeah... I don't know why that is because the movie doesn't say so. The movie takes place of course in the future, but the tech in the space ship is very 1980s. I don't know, kind of weird... but once you dismiss that the movie is okay. It has it's moments. Tries to be impactful in raw emotions, but fails... perhaps because the alien life form is a giant spider. Maybe that has something to do with it.
The claim is "Adam Sandlers best work" - yeah... no. Not even close. His performance in Uncut Gems and Reign over Me is whole levels above this one.
It is an okay movie, it is "free" on Netflix so worth a watch. It's entertaining, just not super engaging because of so many oddities going on.

Haven't seen this and may not. I have been a sci-fi fan of books and movies since the Day the Earth Stood Still (1951). These things on Netflix and prime are mostly just garbage, actors that don't act and scripts that sound like they are written by a 6th grader. Sometimes I wonder whether there's really a director.

Watched it last night. It's lack of action, slow pacing, and scenes that are not very interesting made this move just plain boring.

Space can be a pretty boring place particular when you rely on one actor to carry the load. However, a good script and a creative director can turn what would otherwise be 2 hours of boredom into a hit . The Martian was such a movie. It grossed 630 million on budget of 108 million and received good reviews.

Its no intersteller, but it was ok.

I read the novel, The Martian, first. Then saw the movie. Of course, the book was much better, but the movie was still worth the watch. If you haven't read the book, check it out.

If you liked The Martian, I highly recommend Project Hail Mary, the book, by the same author. It is incredibly well researched and detailed. I'm about halfway through it right now. I want to finish it before I go see the movie version.

I'll check it out. The Castaway is another movie where the protagonist, Tom Hanks must deal with isolation and loneliness. Maybe if Adam Sandler had a basketball instead of a Spider, the movie would have faired better.
