Federal authorities say Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, identified as the alleged ringleader of a plot to attack the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House, is a Mexican national who overstayed his visa and was granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) relief in 2014 Fox News+1.
Alvarez, 31, came to the U.S. as a child and remained in the country after his B2 visa expired in 2001. He was arrested by the FBI on the day of the fight in Omaha, Nebraska, and is accused of planning, organizing, and directing a multi-stage attack that included explosive-laden drones, snipers, and a planned gate storm Fox News+1.
According to court documents and FBI statements, Alvarez was known online as “Shepherd” and was the “primary person” in the group chat coordinating the plot. Messages allegedly discussed sniper placements, drone construction, and an abandoned Methodist church in Western, Nebraska as a fallback location Nebraska Examiner+1. The FBI says the attack was motivated by “ultra-religious and antigovernment sentiments” and targeted high-profile figures including President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and Elon Musk Nebraska Examiner.
Five co-conspirators have been arrested in connection with the plot, and federal investigators say the scheme was discovered after a 19-year-old Ohio man’s family reported suspicious firearm purchases and online communications with the group Nebraska Examiner+1.
DHS officials have called Alvarez an “illegal alien from Mexico” and said he will face justice and removal from the country Yahoo. The FBI and DOJ have emphasized that the operation was a multi-state effort to stop the attack before it could be carried out.
