You do realize that South Korea is only equal to one of our 50 states? Or 57 states for some.
And that is not even some of our more populous ones.
They don't have nearly the number of people in and out of the country as the U.S.
They don't have all the quarantees of our constitution or bill of rights.
That don't have 50 stayes and how many counties and towns wanting to make decisions on what is best for them.

But yeah comparing the two is almost as valid as comparing a watermelon and a Chevy nova.

They are far more urbanised than the USA and this pandemic hits urban populations first, also per population they had more contact with China, the source of the virus yet did much better than the USA.

The second wave will see rural America hit hard.

Mitigation would have been required even if Trump hadn't lied about the pandemic for six weeks in February and March. South Korea reported their first case on the same day as the US. They took all appropriate action while Trump tried to spin the virus to his political advantage. What else would you expect from an imbecilic con man incapable of thinking about anyone but himself?

This is a good point, though not the total chaos of the US response, there virus spike reveals just how difficult pandemics are and how they do not go away in just a few months. Indeed the US will be seeing a rural wave in the Autum, I have no doubt given how poorly the country has dealt with it.

But even with the most rational countries it will be hard to control, though it can be contained, until there is a vaccine.

You ease restrictions and if people do not properly social distance, you get a return of spikes.
