SCREWWORMS Infect US Cattle One Year After DOGE Cuts Monitoring Funds - 60 Years Of Progress Lost

It's pretty much under control for the most part
They did what they did in the sixties
Released flies
American food industry gets a lot of s*** but
We're safer and cleaner than most
Okay almost the whole planet

Costco voluntarily recalls two hundred thousand eggs and they lose their f****** minds
France two million and nobody bats an eye

The poisons
Ingrediants in processed foods are another matter

With cattle at its lowest level in decades the herd faces extreme risk from a flesh eating parasite that hasnt been found in US beef in 60 years. DOGE cuts were enacted last year that eliminated monitoring for the parasite at the border.. because of course they hadnt infiltrated the US beef supply in 60 years. One year later we have parasites invading the livestock.

MAGA is the worst thing to happen to America since the Civil War and will likely kill more Americans that the Civil War did. For you idiots who think government standards are just a waste of money I hope you enjoy tainted drinking water, measle deaths, and higher per pound ground beef than the historical high prices we see today. Idiots.

Ive seen this mentioned twice but it deserves its own thread.

A flesh-eating parasite that was largely eradicated from U.S. livestock in the 1960s has been found in a 3-week-old calf in a south Texas border town, the USDA confirmed, a threat that could drive the already soaring price of beef even higher after Elon Musk-led government cuts slashed ongoing efforts to prevent its spread.

The case of New World screwworm was confirmed in a 3-week-old calf in La Pryor, near the U.S.-Mexico border, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said late Wednesday. The parasitic fly’s larvae feed exclusively on the living tissue of warm-blooded animals. While the fly is capable of infecting humans and pets, such cases are rare and pose little risk to the broader public, according to experts.

It follows months of warnings from U.S. and Texas agriculture officials and cattle industry leaders, as the pest steadily moved north through Mexico toward the American border.

“For months, the screwworm has advanced rapidly through Mexico in spite of the USDA’s existing gameplan,” Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller said Wednesday, adding that “instead of using every available tool, USDA moved too slowly and relied solely on a partial solution that takes years to fully implement.”
Trump and Musk’s DOGE “saved” $15 million by cutting a program dedicated to preventing the spread of screwworm.
Now, there’s an outbreak infecting our beef and the administration is spending $1 BILLION.
Peak incompetence.

Another example of the right's support for reckless, irresponsible deregulation.

^TDS instead of blaming the cause behind this.^

Leftists in this thread are saying the screwworm flies were hovering along the border waiting for DOGE to shut down before crossing.

Cutting funding combatting a parasite that just invaded our food supply was a good idea? Is there anything these losers can do that you'd step back and think.. "hmmm... probably not a good idea"?

No.

No, it isn't, which is why we are about to spend $1 billion dollars fixing the African Nazi's mistake.

Texas AG Chief, says US strategy to contain parasite is failing. Yikes

USDA’s sterile fly strategy for screwworm outbreak is failing: TX ag chief

“It’s a definition of insanity,” Miller told NewsNation on Friday. “We’re doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. It’s just not happening.”

The commissioner argues the sterile fly program is falling short for two reasons: released flies include both males and females, so they often mate with each other rather than with wild, fertile females, and the irradiation process weakens the flies, making them less effective at finding mates in the field.

Without a change in strategy, Miller said top entomologists at Texas A&M University are projecting the outbreak could persist for a decade.

“This is a $32 billion industry in Texas,” he said. “We can’t afford to have that attacked.”

This will turn out to be democrat sabotage, the goal is hate Trump. 5here is no other.

Democrats didnt cut monitoring funds. That was DOGE who apparently hates Trump.

Democrats deliberately infected the cattle.
You're fcking crazy. Time to leave crazy land and join us normies in the real world. The fact is Trump disassmbled the team in place to monitor and fight the parasite.

The specific details of the cuts include:
  • International Monitoring Cuts: The administration and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) eliminated USAID-backed programs that operated as a biological buffer zone to monitor and trap New World screwworms in Central America and Mexico.
  • USDA Staffing Reductions:Under the Trump administration's push for budget savings and agency resignations, APHIS lost approximately 25% of its workforce, leaving fewer specialists available for outbreak monitoring and response.
    • Facility Delays: Sweeping federal spending reviews delayed the construction of a critical screwworm research facility in Texas and temporarily halted a $100 million research initiative to develop new preventative tools.
    • Unpreparedness: these cuts and the lifting of live Mexican cattle import bans left the U.S. dangerously unprepared.

And democrats introduced the screwworm into herds of cattle. The mistake that Trump made was not anticipating the level of hate democrats have for this country.
