Religious belief is not ridiculous no matter how much you may think it is nonsensical. It is rather natural for man to look for something grater then themselves and religion has a community that goes with it.

While fewer religious people and more no religion people is good, it's hardly a concern for the theists. Used to feed em to the lions but they only hardened their resolve and strengthened their faith. Nothing happening now including ISIS lopping their heads off is gonna disuade them.

More a religion or religious people are attacked, more religious they get. Wanna get less religious people, encourage religion. It works. When you tolerate religion its adherrents aren't on the defensive closing ranks against a common foe. And left to themselves, with no opposition they turn upon themselves and self-destruct. See that in arab-muslim countries with how sharia and sunni are at one another's throats if no western great satan's handy to oppose.
