Socialism is more popular than Project 2025

A simple admission that you don't have a counterargument would suffice.
I talk about one of the biggest problems for ALL Americans and you get wrapped up in the details. What a luxury you have there. Before the time the Senate developed the rudimentary program that Warped into Obamacare I had cancer twice. Despite the fact that I had private insurance from work it wiped out all of my savings. I got to the point of almost being homeless. That should never happen to anyone especially in America. If we cannot help one another than we are obviously not the great nation we think we are except on paper. I never recovered , just managed to get by and now the protections are in place for people. It was all too late for millions of other people like me but it will continue to save people today and tomorrow. Try to have a nice day , I plan on it.

I'm ok with the French model for healthcare, but that's because France still has a large private healthcare market to supplement the public one. A lot of other socialized healthcare systems are terrible because citizens don't have a private alternative (or much of one) to use for time-sensitive care. It's why Canadians sometimes come here for things like cancer treatment, for example.

For most services, socialization is extremely inefficient and rife with corruption. The private sector handles most things far better. That being said, I can see socialization potentially working for insurance, only because it is such a strange service. It's the only industry that profits more from providing fewer services. Most other industries profit more the more services they provide.
Health Care could be handled like Defense is, like School is in grades 1-12 is. Yes that makes Democrats pleased. Then you study where the tax money comes from and how much it is. I have public health care but it is not free to me at all. Even though I also have plan D, it gets charged to me. And my visits to my doctor cost me from $30 to $90 per which means they still charge me fees. I had diabetic drugs tripled in cost to me due to Biden messing with this. OK, so why doesn't America have the free to all plan. It is not free to all. It is free to those not liable for income taxes but those would be the only ones to benefit. The rest still will have charges even though less to them. The rich will end up bearing 90 percent of the burden. Sure you may not care about the rich. But this kind of government does trickle down. When it comes to pass that the benefits are not paid for in full, now you all who do not pay for it will pay it in full.

My cardiologist prescribed an "external defibrillator" in November. It's a vest with some contacts on it that supposedly senses when my heartbeat is irregular and zaps me with a charge designed to restart my heart. In January, I found out that medicare was allowing the providers to charge me a "co-pay" of $560 per month out of my Social Security check! That's about 25% of my monthly SS check.

OMG , that would wipe out half my Income and leave me homeless. I'd have to take my chances.

People not yet on Medicare have no clue, for the vast majority I mean, that Medicare is not universal health care. It falls far short of this. My advice to you is to also sign up for your state health care. I think you probably have plan D but if not, check that out.

Sorry to hear that, but what makes America great is not the government nor insurance nor healthcare. Freedom does. If we ever truly lose that, then health will be a lesser worry.

That being said, if you really want to fix healthcare in this country, you have to get every state to allow people to pay for healthcare without the insurance middleman. That's a lot of what drives up costs here. And when most states require you to use insurance and do not allow paying a doctor in cash or without insurance in general, it's not really a free market to begin with.

Yeah, it's a mess. I'd still blame a lot of it on insurance though. The massive amount of bureaucracy involved in just filing medical bills is absurd in this country. It's almost as bad as the government's bureaucracy.

What a stupid thing to say. If you want to pay your doctor without insurance, then go ahead. Most can't afford that.

If the well being of the citizens isn't the business of government I would like to know what you believe it is.

Um... So you can't afford to pay out of pocket for a routine checkup? Sorry to hear that. Anyway, my point was that insurance itself is a lot of the reason for why medicine costs so much here.

Another thing to think about is how we're prohibited from buying prescription drugs from other countries. Canadian drugs are way cheaper than here, and we should be able to buy them, but Big Pharma paid off our legislators, so they passed laws against these markets.

Government is the problem. They are not working for the citizens anymore but the corporations and the idiot public just voted in trump who is anti people and pro corporations. That doesn't help anything. But at the same time you can't throw out the baby with the bathwater. Until they work for the people again we are left with the scraps.

The business of government was intended to be very limited here. After the Progressives got ahold of it in the 1890s, it's been a constant process of growing into every facet of life. I personally prefer the original scope of the feds and the state in general -- protect basic rights and leave everything else up to voluntary transactions between individuals.

Canadian drugs are way cheaper than here,

Why do you think that's the case?

Maybe they saw the problems better back then. Corporations weren't so cut throat.

Most of the Fortune 500 supported Kamala. Globalists in general despise Trump, and they are the ones that run most corporations.

If you're concerned about elites screwing us via corporations, then the first thing you should realize is that the social left in the West in general has been hijacked by them. Identity politics are the key to distracting people away from class conflict, and that's exactly what the elites want. Populism is what brings the focus back toward class. You may not like Trump's brand of populism, but he's just a right-oriented version of the same focus that Bernie has. I prefer right wing populism over left wing populism, because left wing populism tends to mistakenly think that the solution to government corruption is more government.

Canadian drugs are way cheaper than here,

Why do you think that's the case?
There are multiple factors. One is bulk discounts that their government negotiates with pharmaceutical companies. Another factor is the use of compulsory licensing when the need arises. One more factor is that we basically subsidize the cost of drugs for a lot of the world due to the massive amount of investment and research we do regarding drugs.

Personally, I would prefer the market to reset into a new equilibrium where the investment and research is more evenhanded, and drugs are more affordable here (and less affordable everywhere else).
