We weren't discussing trump. He is a sad sideline of present. We were talking about economic systems and what comes next as in 50.years or so into the future. trump will continue increasing the disparity of wealth in the world but not significantly. The 1% will soon have their fingers into everything and everyone. That is when it will become intolerable. We are just becoming uncomfortable , it's going to get a whole lot worse.

We as citizens by taking pensions, welfare, social security, etc. and benefits have helped the agendas to move on. We do not want to upset the politicians into removing our booty. We take what comes with it. The military industrial complex is real. And there are people with multiple mansions living off of it. Just one of many avenues of corruption.

There's no free stuff , one way or another we pay for it all. We are half way there already and the benefits are not shared by all. Universal health care would solve most problems people face.

I'm ok with the French model for healthcare, but that's because France still has a large private healthcare market to supplement the public one. A lot of other socialized healthcare systems are terrible because citizens don't have a private alternative (or much of one) to use for time-sensitive care. It's why Canadians sometimes come here for things like cancer treatment, for example.

For most services, socialization is extremely inefficient and rife with corruption. The private sector handles most things far better. That being said, I can see socialization potentially working for insurance, only because it is such a strange service. It's the only industry that profits more from providing fewer services. Most other industries profit more the more services they provide.

Insurance as a middle man certainly sucks. The fact that some states ban paying for healthcare with cash and without insurance is pretty messed up. At the very least, we need a freer market that allows people to get care without insurance and with cash.

We should also be able to buy medications from any country. We can't even buy from Canada currently.
