Socialism doesn't scare them anymore

Young people are not happy with the unequal world they’ve inherited

No. Young people are not happy because success, here in our America, requires years of hard work, sacrifice and personal responsibility. Many of them are unwilling to succeed on their own blood, sweat and tears.

Further, many of today's young people neither understand socialism nor are they aware of its repeated historical abject failures, nor the toll in human lives socialism has claimed. Our youth are not pissed off at capitalism or any other specific economic/governmental system; they're pissed off at and despise human nature.

On one side of the coin of human nature a man can find individual freedom, limitless potential for improvement, the rule of law through personal responsibility and a life of relative stability in a free nation. On the other side of human nature's coin a man becomes a member of a collective group, owns no property, suffers beneath the greed of powerful men as a form of government and is punished for his speech and thought.

When faced with a decision between a life of prosperity through hard work or one of poverty and misery and constant want, most men would fight to the death for a chance at the former. That, in a nutshell, is the sum of the spirit of American men. Men who choose the latter; men who wait for success to find them while living on someone else's dime and raging against society for failing without even trying . . . they are the enemies of America.

Yeah, they're all just a bunch of lazy asses...all of 'em. That explains everything.

Your anti-civilization, anti-American, anti-human race colors are bleeding through. The truth hurts. Embrace the burn.

That is because they have never lived in a true socialist country they have been feed this romanticized idea of socialism where everything is fair and equal and there is no suffering or have not’s.

Yes, but we already have places like that in the US today. Places where you get free government healthcare, nobody has guns except government, food and clothing paid for, everybody is equal and nobody has more money than the other.

We call these places prisons, and they are full of Democrats already.
Interestingly few if any who claim to be so disillusioned by our capitalist system and enamored with socialism never actually move to country where their preferred system of government is already in place. Given the current state of the airline industry I would think they could get a good deal on a ticket right now.

To be honest, I think that those socialist countries don't want anything to do with them. How many times has the left threatened us with moving out of the country if Bush wins, if the Republicans take over the House, if Trump wins............. yet they never leave.

I wish they would all leave, but of course, it's a fantasy. One of the many great things about this country is you can leave anytime you want for one of these socialist utopias. If you decide it wasn't what it was cracked up to be, you can always come back to the good ole USA......if your new country allows you to. But once they change this place and find out it was a bad deal, there will be no USA to move back to. It will be gone forever.

Between their silly, shallow, binary definition of "socialism" and their blind support for what has become of capitalism, the Trumpsters have been their own worst enemies.

If the socialists win, they'll be able to thank the arrogant, ignorant Right.
My support for capitalism isn't blind. I understand the advantages and drawbacks far better than you.

Socialism has failed every time it has been tried.

You don't like the definition of socialism because it makes your imbecile agenda obvious.

Perfect. Right on cue.

Ol' Mac never has to name names.

And a huge reliance on the Socialist actions of the Federal Reserve.
Who benefits from these socialist actions by the government and the Fed? It sure appears that the extreme wealthy are the main beneficiaries.

They absolutely are. And they sit around and laugh at those struggling believing they actually have a shot in our fake "capitalistic" system.
Yes. Many Americans want to cling to the belief we all can make it big. Just work hard and bingo, you’re rich in America. They can’t bring themselves around to accept what their eyes are telling them. The elites love this foolish people.

Nobody believes that. People understand that capitalism is much more than working hard. It's a matter of taking your money and investing in it, thus creating your own income.

In many instances, people fail, but in the process, learn things. You can work as hard as you desire, but if you are blue collar, you'll never get rich working for somebody else. It's a well known factor.

My favorite economist, and former fill-in host on the Rush Limbaugh show, Dr. Walter E Williams said many times, that when he was teaching college, he would be asked by one or more students "Dr. Williams, what is the secrete to financial success?" To that, Williams always responded that the key to success is pleasing your fellow man.

If you make a good hamburger, you please your fellow man by a few, be it feeding your family or friends. If you take your delicious hamburger, and open your own restaurant, you will please your fellow man by the thousands. If you decide to franchise your restaurant, you will please your fellow man by the millions, and financial success grows equally.
I suspect you’re one of those under the misapprehension that our crony capitalist system (really Fascism) works for the vast majority of Americans, if only they would learn to invest and please their fellow man.

The billionaires laugh at people like you.

It only works for people that take the opportunity to be part of it. If you are going to stay at your job running a drill press, you are not participating. You are simply working for somebody that is participating.
So now if everyone would just apply their God given talents, all would be rich. LOL. WTF man.
Anyone can increase their net worth if they want to.
Yes but few ever get rich. Now with the system so stacked against most Americans, many can see the unfairness. Millions of Americans are living in or near poverty, while billionaires get sweetheart deals from Uncle.

Money is political power in our corrupt nation. The ultra rich have enormous political power. I don’t think this a good thing. Do you?

Define rich.

Some would say a person who can live modestly off of his lifetime of savings with little worry about meeting his expenses is a rich man.

The fact is you don't need millions of dollars to live such a life.
You’re ignoring the problem. Over 50% of Americans have $0 net worth. Millions live in poverty. We are the richest third world nation in the world.

Can we debate the problem rather than post platitudes?
Sure. Lets start with the fact that of that 50% that have $0 net worth have that because of their own poor choices in life.

Speaking of posting platitudes. ;)
btw - Where did you get the stat that shows 50% of Americans have $0 net worth?

Net worth is basically defined as assets minus debt. Debt is often a matter of spending choices - as are savings and/or investing.

Poverty level in the US is an imaginary line on a graph albeit involving calculations such as regional cost of living and is based on reported income. The most important function of the poverty level is to determine who gets how much federal and state assistance from the hundreds of government agencies distributing funds. It isn't a measure of net worth or possessions, or 'amenities' such as running hot water, air conditioning & heating, cars, phones, other electronics, refrigeration, etc.

20+ Trillion dollars, two decades and scores of federal agencies later the poverty 'stats' have changed little...is it time, like the War on Drugs, to admit defeat? How much poverty, like drug abuse, is a matter of 'bad' choices? Can we federally assist people out of poverty?...apparently not. But education and work ethic can.

Those are the facts - what is the problem?

I guessed at that stat, but it probably isn't far off. We know there are millions of Americans struggling to make ends meet. You can be like a typical con and claim these people are just lazy or have poor spending habits, but that still doesn't address the problem.

Then when you add in the insult of the extreme wealthy receiving all kinds of government assistance, pols and media figures claiming Medicare4All is just too costly yet most first world nations have it, and a national debt approaching $25 trillion but our infrastructure is crumbling...one can see the injustice. No? Yes?

Absolutely they should live with them. Now here is the part where you play some kind of emotional blackmail by pointing out that the workers shouldn't be held to account for the bad decisions of management.

You'd be wrong, but emotions as thought is always wrong.

Addressing the problem isn't giving them stuff. That is fostering dependency.

Addressing the problem is educating children from the earliest age in self-control, personal responsibility, and the logic of planning a life.

We have nothing, no programs, that even resemble socialism. Capitalism is alive and well and under no threat. You can all relax.

Children also need to be taught that a strong work ethic and busting ones butt is not going to be any sort of pathway to financial stability in today's america. It's a great quality but may well not be recognized by future employers.

Speaking of posting platitudes. ;)
btw - Where did you get the stat that shows 50% of Americans have $0 net worth?

I guessed at that stat, but it probably isn't far off.

Like a 'typical leftie' ;) ...but I appreciate your honesty in answering the question.

We know there are millions of Americans struggling to make ends meet. You can be like a typical con and claim these people are just lazy or have poor spending habits, but that still doesn't address the problem.

We do know that millions of Americans are struggling to make ends meet. We've spent over 20 trillion dollars to rectify that - so we do need to find out exactly what the problem is, don't you think? Can it be due to overspending?...absolutely. Can it be a lack of education?...definitely. Can it be divorce?...no doubt. Can it be a loss of income? (especially right now)...for sure. Can it be an unexpected life altering event?...yes, it can. Can it be poor work ethic or substance abuse...of course. Any one of the above circumstances, or a combination of can send a family below the poverty level. (Though not everyone struggling to make ends meet is at or below the poverty level.) One thing that generally doesn't contribute to poverty is the 'extreme wealthy' (who tend to support leftist causes anyway). It is important to note that many families do not stay below the poverty level - it is often a temporary condition.

So, 20 some odd trillion dollars later - what is the problem?

Then when you add in the insult of the extreme wealthy receiving all kinds of government assistance, pols and media figures claiming Medicare4All is just too costly yet most first world nations have it, and a national debt approaching $25 trillion but our infrastructure is crumbling...one can see the injustice. No? Yes?

The Left had their shot at Medicare for All and they ditched it. Like immigration reform, the issue is far too valuable a wedge issue to ever fix. One point to note - many of the citizens of those first world nations with universal health care have discovered that to get really good timely care they need to purchase supplemental private insurance - and that is not a 'guess' on my part. In the US, even Medicaid recipients get 'first world' health care free of charge (to them), including some of the most expensive - heart surgery, kidney dialysis, cancer treatment, etc.

I oppose Trump providing more bailout money. Just like I opposed his signing 8 trillion dollars to the States for their own fuckup.

It is the single greatest thing I hate about Trump. His willingness to spend money that isn't needed. In 2016, I took a stand against Trump for his progressive/liberal beliefs that government can solve all problems and his idiocy in signing any spending bill they throw at him. I remember him in 2017, after he signed the first massive spending bill that he swore to the right that he would never do again.

Two years later, he not only did it again, but he spent 8 FUCKING TRILLION DOLLARS just in this year alone. For what? To bail out the fuckup Governors of this country for following a failed pandemic policy.

Well the average worker needs help these days. Step up and help them out. Single best thing Trump did. He's talking about a second stimulus package. I support that.

We do know that millions of Americans are struggling to make ends meet. We've spent over 20 trillion dollars to rectify that

Do you have a source for that $20 Trillion number?

This covers 10 years - previous spending history is available on this site. Remember - One thousand billion=1 Trillion.

From 2014 -
'Since that time, U.S. taxpayers have spent over $22 trillion on anti-poverty programs (in constant 2012 dollars)'
.
