So you think the government should have a say in marriage?

The government should not have a say in marriage. The government should simply hand out contracts between two people that want to enter into a union. If the union dissolves then everything is 50/50 from the time the marriage started. If two people want to enter a union and get "married", then let the church do it.

This solves everything.

That's what they do now, they call the contract a "marriage license..."

Anyway... I don't know that any entity, governmental or religious, need be involved in marriage in any official capacity.

So then who should perform, or "officiate", the wedding?

It's glaringly obvious that you've never been divorced (or likely, married).

You know what they say about assuming things...

Luckily, it is only you who has made an ass out of himself...

Married twice, divorced once.

Both times, oddly enough, the license, or contract if you will, was issued by the state with no requirement for religious involment...

What Fantasy land state do you live in? Because where I'm from, guys take a beating in divorces, there's no 50/50 shit that's limited to the start of the marriage.
