Halloween has always been my favorite non-Jewish holiday since I was in 4th Grade.

My parents encouraged me to go out at night and take candy from strangers.

It was the best!

I start getting that way when the weather cools down and the leaves start to fall.
My birthday is the week before Halloween.
The day after Halloween I start getting Christmassy.

So do I. Fruit, just tossed naked into your pillow case, popcorn balls handmade and wrapped in cellophane, it was a lot of fun making treats and getting home made sweets.

Then someone put a tab of LSD in a snack, or a razor blade in an apple and the entire world reviled in fear and the holiday was never the same again.

Now, today, moms don't even let kids go out door to door, they only allow them to trick or treat on a virtual website, complete with cyber spooks and internet snacks.

I always go to parties and things and the sweets and candy and shit, oh and dressing up etc...

but excited? never.

Never; I don't "celebrate" it at all. I don't live in the US.

I lived in Montana....so not only was it cold but high elevation. I was just trying to stay warm.
I don't remember sweating much....but that was over 50 years ago.
