True, Walker was not a good candidate, as were other repubs that lost last month. The GOP needs to do something about that, you cannot run poor candidates and expect to win. Still - the dems' record is so bad over the past 2 years, when you look beyond that to what they wanted to do and couldn't and yet they picked up a seat anyway. End the filibuster? Pack the Court? Climate Change? The Build Back Better bill that according to some estimates would have cost over $5 trillion, and these guys still have a majority in the Senate? Thank God the GOP at least took back the majority in the House, however slight it is. But one wonders if a few RINOs might side with the dems on some votes, y'know? At least the dems grandiose spending ought to be stymied for 2 years.

I'm wondering if the writing is on the wall, and the GOP will never again put a repub in the WH or control Congress. What will it take to do that in the future if they couldn't win in 2022? If Trump is the nominee, I don't think he wins. Not even against Joe effing Biden. I'm feeling like somebody pulled the plug and we're circling the drain. And no, I don't need an effing tissue. Your kids might though, when they realize the awful situation we have put them in, some 10-20 years down the road.

If a party doesn't have a realistic chance of winning, quality candidates aren't going to want to run under their banner.

Unless the Republicans show something pretty quick, I can't see DeSantis bothering to run if he thinks he will lose.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the GOP nominate a Bush or Cheney in 2 years for a hopeless cause.

What was the margin?

I've been sick as a dog the last couple days (no covid) and this is the first I heard of it.

Last I saw (99%), it was Warnock with 51.4% to Walker's 49.6%. IMHO, the truth is that in so many states the big democrat-controlled cities outvote everybody else in the state and that does not appear to be changing, even after the rioting and more management of local affairs.

Yeah we need a "reimaging" of the city states. I really don't see them existing next to each other much longer.

You still have the same problem you had in 2012. The Dems lost the White House in 2016 with a weak candidate and an opponent (Trump) who promised you everything your little old heart desired....

Mexico was going to pay for the wall. Remember that?

You'd be able to go into a hospital or pharmacy and see the price of a hip replacement or Vicodin like you were ordering a Big Mac. Remember that?

Repeal Obamacare. Remember that?

He wouldn't have time to golf. Remember that?

Six Weeks Paid Maternity leave. Remember that?

Cancel all funding for sanctuary cities. Remember that?

The list goes on and on. It papered over the fact that you guys have a problem insofar as you're running out of angry old white guys to vote for you. You still have that problem. You still have the problem of winning only one popular vote since 1992. You still have the problem of having to fight a culture war at the same time you're trying to attract independents.

Only now you have the problem of having invited an interloper to sit at your table who won't leave quietly.

I just can't imagine what this country is going to devolve into. But I am fairly certain that it won't be peaceful or painless. And I also think there's a very good chance the US ends up in another Great Depression not unlike the 1930s. FDR's progressive policies didn't work then and they won't work now either, it took a war to get us out of that depression and it could be another war is in our future but this time within our own borders. Do not think that I am advocating for that, cuz I'm not. But IMHO the status quo is deteriorating and at some point the crap hits the fan.

As sorry as people are now I sure can't see the CCC Camps amounting to much.....I mean working for your sustenance is so 1930s.

If they continue to dive down the alt-right hole of bile, hatred, white grievance, and belief in conspiracy theories, chances are, they'll lose even the small advantage they will have in the House. Republicans and conservatives haven't had a successful policy implementation in four decades. If they can present successful policy alternatives, they may have a shot. But I believe the current Republican party is too far down the rabbit hole to be pulled out of. It is what it is at this point. And to the contrary, I have some hope for us after the slide to the hard right was arrested at the beginning of November. Our children need to have issues of healthcare, education, affordable housing, and the environment addressed. Republicans haven't been interested in discussing these issues for years.

It's not just Walker, it's most of the GOP candidates.

Republicans need to do a postmortem to find out for themselves what went wrong and stop lying about fraud, cheating, and stolen elections.

All of that is much more difficult than just crying havoc and letting slip the dogs of war.

The GOP leadership doesn't deal with complexity well. Their voters? It would be like George Jetson talking to Fred Flintstone.

You literally cheated in an old angry White guy! Winning the culture war against a sexually perverse Democrat Party is worth it.

That's just the feeling one gets when your choice now is between an all-out anti-American communist-globalist cabal being run by Soros and Jinping calling themselves "democrats" or the utterly impotent, incompetent, useless GOP run by a fucking turtle who pulls funding on his own candidates so they will lose handing the senate to the DNC so that his gal Murkowski can protect him and keep McTuttle the distant do-nothing #2 party never ready for anything, never prepared, never about to hit the ground running with bold, fresh ideas, with a party he has made utterly irrelevant to the American people with no voter contact nor appeal to anyone but flaky old, white fudduddies.

At a recent event commemorating the Capitol police, the families attending wouldn't even shake the hands of McTuttle or McCarthy. A party where the party leader always looks somewhere between having a cold sweat, completely lost, in the middle of getting a ticket from a cop, to where even old women with hairy warts would pass on wanting to give the guy a kiss on his rotting, smelly teeth.

Right now, I almost welcome democrats kicking the stuffing out of the RINO GOP until there ain't enough left of it to stuff a dog's chew toy until Americans wake up enough to form a new reform party on getting this country back to standing on its own two legs, shaking off socialism and globalism and taking back their country! And I guess things still haven't gotten bad enough yet for most people to wake the fuck up to what democrats and Washington are really about.

But making YOUR life better ain't on the list.

Absolutely well said, McConnell is simply Democrat lite!

The GOP has a choice to make: It can reject the voices of paranoia, conspiracy & hysteria and start nominating intelligent, articulate, mature, qualified candidates, or it sees more losses and the country runs the risk of moving too far to the Left.

I wonder if by the time enough Americans get kicked in the balls enough to wake up and take back their country it will be too late.

Unless the Republicans can put together some wins, finding well qualified candidates will be very difficult.

DeSantis isn't going to bother running in 2024 if he doesn't think he'll be able to vanquish Sleepy Joe.

Then it will be too late. I won't be around to care and the idiots can sleep in the bed they've made for themselves.

Usually a GREAT way to LEARN.

All things come and go around in the tytler cycle of events!

So nominate someone dems will never vote for and conservatives won't bother to vote for.....
