So in spite of the promise not to cut SS benefits

They raised the benefit age on me and I didn't bitch. Do you want Social Security to be around when you need it? Then something has to be done.
Uncapping payments seems an obvious move.

"Would cut"? What does that mean when the minority party is angry and vindictive and supported by the propaganda arm of the democrat party, the mainstream media? It's hate politics and the TDS hate filled left wants to believe it.

If MAGAts didn't have projection they'd have nothing.

Raygun, wasn't it? 1983, apparently. He was Republican too, wasn't he?

Ya, the recognitin was the baby boomer generation was going to create a big bubble in SS benefit commitments. So in 1983 the age was raised for full retirement from 65 to 67, and the tax rate was raised. The plan was to streagnth SS for 50 years. This was tweeked a little in 1990.

The Trust fund is supposed to be exhausted in 2034, so from 1983 to 2034 - they hit the 50 year mark pretty well. Now we need the next 50 year "fix".

You describe you and yours. What we want is real evidence, which you and yours never provide.
This nimrod thinks government fraud, waste, mounting debt and ever expanding government doesn’t exist. He needs evidence. Lol.

They have produced a budget that cuts SS benefits.

And yes, raising the retirement age is a cut to your benefits.

Look here to see how many are affected in your district.

The Democrats said it, so it must be true. Democrats would never lie...lol

There is no reduction in your social security benefits. Social Security payments will not be impacted.

People can still start receiving their benefits at 62 years old.

How does raising the retirement age not equate to a cut in benefits?

That's the WHOLE purpose of raising the age, to reduce benefit payouts.

If you want to start receiving your benefit at 62 you still can.

Not if they raise the age.

THAT is the premise that was Crepitus said.

If they raise full retirement age to 70 (i.e. +3 years), then that is 3 years without benefits.

If they raise the FRA to 70, then that means the early retirement lower limit would be raise to 65.

Even if they leave the early retirement age at 62, the way early retirement is calculated the amount you would receive at 62 the amount is LOWER. So the way it works is that your FRA amount is reduced by 5/9ths of 1% for the first 36 months early, then an additional 5/12ths of 1% for each additional month. So if FRA is raised and the early retirement age is still 62, there is in increased percentage of penalty for retiring early. An additional 36 months of the 5/12th of 1% reduction.

Even with this CR, if you want to receive your early Social Security benefit at 62, you're free to do so.

Crepitus is an imbecile.
