So California is on fire again...

Power line sensors detected arcing. Now who would have thought that electric power lines were/are at fault.

"Brendan Thorn, who lives in a house that backs up to Eaton Canyon, says his power flickered around 6:10 p.m. And a few minutes later, a neighbor called to say there was a fire under the power lines"

There we have a report from an eyewitness. Now maybe the RWingers can chew on that by blaming reality.

So, what's your solution? Do away with electrical power?

Are you posting this in hopes that this can't be traced to a homeless person?

Yes, most of righties here really are denying that some power lines will come down in 100mph winds.

We always knew they were stupid, but they constantly surprise us with just how stupid they are.

I know, they're not actually as stupid as they're all pretending to be here. They're authoritarian-bootlickers, which is worse. TheParty is their whole identity. They'll be ejected from TheParty if they don't tell the really stupid lies, so they tell the really stupid lies.

No one is saying that, we all know power lines have caused fires. Here in Oregon where I'm at there have been lawsuits against power companies for failing to keep trees trimmed away from their lines. This is nothing new, and certainly could be the cause here. Keep in mind however, that there have been multiple fires, and there could be multiple causes.

I just went through the last big hurricane in Florida and was told expect the power to go out because it gets shut off intentionally many times to prevent unnecessary damage. DeSantis didn't that because he understood keeping the power on during a storm is critical. What he did was arranged for power trucks to be on the ground in location ready to move right after the storm to restore outages. DeSantis doesn't just address the damages after but looks at ways to be better prepared in the future.

We all know California knows how to shut off the power so why wasn't it done ahead of time?
I'll note once again in Florida DeSantis is all over the airwaves before, during and after informing the public of what to expect and how they can prepare. Seems none of this was/is being done in California.

The reality is elected/public officials did next to nothing to prepare for a major fire disaster. People understand damage from disasters can be unavoidable, what people take issue with is those trying to absolve accountability for lack of readiness by elected/public officials.

There no longer is a fire season in So Cal. This start of winter is the driest since 1964. Facts is facts.

The problem with the human race is, they put trees beside roads, houses, rail tracks, power lines, and telephone lines. When high winds happen....we all know the rest.

And why have tinder dry foliage around houses and power lines, bizarre.

If I were a city planner, I'd be thinking about creating a few strategic "fire breaks" based on patterns of Santa Anna Winds so that the city could pump a spray of water up in a curtain that as the fire downstream threw sparks, it would hit the water curtain putting them out taking water with it wetting the area behind so that the fire could burn out at that point and stop the propagation of fire beyond that point containing it.

Kind of a "reverse aquifer" system.
At least you are thinking about ideas. But, what kind of "water curtain" wouldn't be blown away by 100 MPH winds?
