So Biden wants 500,000 chargers... how long does it take to charge an EV car?

The local Denny's has a dozen chargers in the parking lot. WalMart is going that way also. Logistics and patience is the key.

Can't charge if there isn't electricity on the grid. Where will all this extra electricity come from when we are already having brown outs and restrictions, moron?

JUST REMEMBER FOLKS: the same idiots who engineered the worst military pullout in US history evacuating the Bagram base FIRST after giving the Taliban everything they wanted leaving thousands of allies and Americans behind for a colossal national and strategic DISASTER for both the Afghan people and us are the SAME people now telling you they got this in totally changing our POWER GRID and the very way we drive and get around. :th_waiting:

Biden's plans...
These steps will help the United States meet President Biden’s ambitious goals to confront the climate crisis, by building a national network of 500,000 electric vehicle chargers along America’s highways and in our communities and have EVs make up at least 50% of new car sales by 2030, all while advancing an industrial strategy to continue to build-out the domestic EV and EV charging industry.

Two glaring obstacles that Biden hasn't thought of...
1) 500,000 chargers with the FASTEST charging installed will require if the FASTEST re-charger charges an EV in 40 minutes to travel 24 miles POD Point Confidence!
The most miles with confidence is 238 miles and takes 2 hours! How Long Does It Take to Charge an Electric Car? | Pod Point
It takes me less than 10 minutes to fill my car that will allow me to travel over 340 miles on one 10 minute fill up!
Think about that... 2 hours to charge an EV to travel at least 238 miles.... wow!
So Joe's 2nd glaring obstacle is this..
2) Joe wants 50% of new car sales being EVs... ok..
Average number of new cars sold per year:...The U.S. auto industry sold nearly 2.86 million cars in 2022. U.S.: annual car sales 2022 | Statista
So between 2023 and 2030 is 7 years... 1,500,000 EVs sold for 7 years equals 10,500,000 cars.
10,500,000 traveling the average of 14,253 miles/car source: https://www.thezebra.com/resources/driving/average-miles-driven-per-year/
The average EV car uses 0.25 kWh to travel 1 mile... or 10,500,000 cars traveling 149,761,500,000 miles divided by 0.25 kWh equals 599,046,000,000 kWh ADDED to
the current average of 4,165,030,000,000 kWh electricity generated in USA in 2021 by all power plants or nearly 15% more electricity!
So Biden's totally ignorant plans to make 10.5 million EVs with each EV needed at least 2 hours to charge a vehicle traveling 238 miles will cost EACH American household
another 15% MORE electricity demand per year! Folks where will that come from because we can't build enough generating plants in 7 years.
Right now 11,070 plants generate an average of 376,244,806 kWh and with Biden's plan adding nearly 600 Billion kWh... that means 1,592 power plants needed all built
within the next 7 years!
Biden's 7 year plan will Cost Americans in electricity blackouts and wasted time re-charging their cars.
Now some of you ignorant people will say... oh yea well these EV owners can re-charge at home over night! I've heard that before! Where does the electricity to come from?
Not Wind turbines as it takes 80 acres for one WT. Solar panels... that'll work... if you have a home but how many EV owners have homes?

80 acres for one wind turbine??? We have thousands of wind turbines in our county and the whole county is blanketed with wind turbine leases. All of these leases are for 5 acre parcels.

Every day it’s a different lie about electrical vehicles. Give it up Chicken Little. The sky is not falling.

First of all PROVE "Every day it’s a different lie"
NOT ONE FACT among your ranting.
BUT HERE ARE THE FACTS: Check out the link as I wouldn't make a comment unless I can back it up...UNLIKE YOU!

FACT: One wind turbine can require up to 80 acres of land, and each turbine will generate around 2.5 MW.

Most wind farm projects require at least 60 acres of land per megawatt produced; however, only a very small percentage (about 3%) of this land will be used for the placement of wind turbines and other supporting infrastructure.

Offshore wind turbines require significantly more acreage due to the added complexity of the installation.
A typical offshore turbine can require an area up to 200 acres.
Range of acres according to the above 3 sources::: 60 acres up to 200 ACRES!!!
Now there are the FACTS from people that obviously KNOW a hell of a lot more than you do AND they back it ... UNLIKE YOU!

NOW this is ONE fact that doesn't change... That the USA Currently generates 4,165,030,000,000 kWh...total electricity generated in USA in 2021 by the
11,070 total power plants. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA)

And this is another FACT: Based on the amount of electricity to travel 1 mile or 0.25 kWh, if all the cars in the USA
(Fact.. from this source: National Household Travel Survey Daily Travel Quick Facts | Bureau of Transportation Statistics
  • Americans take 1.1 billion trips a day — four for every person in the U.S
  • U.S. daily travel averages 11 billion miles a day — almost 40 miles per person per day
So 11 billion miles per day times 6 days (Sunday is day of rest!!) or in 52 weeks at the average EV today, at 2.9 miles per kWh, OR with 3,432,000,000,000 miles/year
the total electricity needed is 1,183,448,275,862 kWh per year... this is 25% more electricity than is generated in the USA today!
WHERE WILL THAT additional 1.1 Trillion kWh come from: 2 choices:
1) have 25% of all 4.5 trillion kWh be reduced to all our electricity needs OR
2) With the average power plant today generating 376,244,806 kWh per year, another 3,145 power plants will be needed @ Cost of $7 Billion for nuclear plant
WE the ultimate payers of electric costs either directly or indirectly will be charged $22,017,946,304,480!

SO dummy...YOU are going to pay along with the other 129 million households either directly or indirectly an average of $711 per month for 20 years JUST to
add 3,145 power plants to generate the 25% MORE electricity than is generated today for All EV cars traveling 3.4 trillion miles per year .
THESE are the FACTS: Either Blackouts increase by 25% meaning YOU will experience blackouts at some time OR you will pay for the 3,145 power plants!
YOUR choice!
