SNAP benefits about to be cut off -- and she don't like it

So in that case it makes more sense to just go on welfare right? You know...if working doesn't pay the bills.
not if welfare doesnt exist, which is our goal,, at least at the federal level,,

what does make more sense is to work harder and find a way to not be a burden on other people,,

Compared to the abject poverty and squallor that most of these people come from anything is better.
Irrelevant to the thread why they come here. They were mentioned as an example of people who are willing to do the jobs that you claim don't exist.

You are a victim of a common misperception about poverty.

We lived in an economy that made it possible. Now in this late stage collapse of our capitalistic system it is no longer possible.
Continually waxing nostalgic about some imagined "good old days" isn't helpful.
If you want to point the finger of blame for how our economy got so fucked up you need to start with the Reagan years.

What about in poor and depressed areas of the country where decent paying jobs are nonexistent? We have huge swaths of territory all over the country where this is the case. What then?
Move to where there are jobs.

Next?

How much are you suggesting employers be required to pay these people so that they can afford to transition from welfare to the workforce and survive comfortably?
How much are you going to donate for this purpose out of your personal resources, Mike?

Next?
How many poor people do you know who have the money to uproot themselves and then resettle somewhere else for work?
You should be asking yourself why our capitalalistic system sucks so badly that people can't afford to work.

Zero. She is required to bring skills to the employer and they both decide how much that is worth.
Ask the people of McDowell county, WV (the poorest county in Appalachia) what kinds of "skills" they can bring to their jobs at Family Dollar or Circle K (or any of the other low wage jobs in the county) that might allow those employers to actually pay a living wage, then get back to me with those suggestions.

Check the poverty/welfare statistics among red state, Republican voters in Appalachia and the southern states.
This isn't a "lib" problem.

Guy, we did this stupidity with Slick Willy's welfare reform. It didn't work then and it won't work now.

Some people, like it our not, just aren't cut out to work.

Tell us again how pro-life and pro-children you people are. That shit never gets old.
Charity does not involve volunteering other people's money for programs. So unless you're donating 10% or more of your own personal income to programs for the poor, then I guess it's shut-uppy time.

Charity begins at home, only benefits home and stays at home......in JoeB's world.
He's all for charity....as long as it's inbound and he never has to pay for it.

Not the government's problem. The government isn't their mommy. BTW, are you living there? Amusing that you use them as an example but I don't hear them whining--only you. Are you sure they want your help? BTW, have you gone there and offered any personal assistance or are you only interested in reaching into my pockets and forcing me to be the charity.
