Maybe they don't want to see ANYONE going through that.
I can see that such a thought didn't even occur to you, in your war. No surprise there.
Maybe those are the voices in your head you are hearing. Then why is the Looney left crying the loudest?
The utopian scenario you imagine is known as the Horatio Alger myth. They teach about it in college level American history classes.No. If you want to make more than minimum wage, you need to take responsibility to obtain the work ethic, skills, experience and know how to be worth more than that to an employer. Or you can go into business for yourself which also requires work ethic, skills, experience and know how as well as what products and services others will voluntarily pay you to provide.
Labor is a commodity and cost of doing business as much as anything else. The employee who cannot generate profit to cover costs of doing business plus a reasonable profit for his/her employer is dead weight and will usually be let go. Certainly he/she will not be worth more money.
Nobody owes any of us a living. In a free society, others should not ever be required to participate or contribute to our welfare but each should be required to earn what they have to the best of his/her ability.
Good people will always voluntarily participate or contribute to the welfare of the truly helpless in our society. But otherwise, as the Bible ways, he who will not work, let him not eat.
Good point. Probably cheaper just to fund welfare programs. How much are you willing to pay at the checkout counter so those employers can afford to pay a lot more?

That should be determined by the workers. If the job offers what the worker needs to live on then the employee accepts the terms. What's the monetary value of the work?
They teach about it in high school economic/poli sci/history classes, maybe even middle school, too. Then and now.The utopian scenario you imagine is known as the Horatio Alger myth. They teach about it in college level American history classes.
No, it's not. Paying higher prices keep more people working and fewer non-workers dependent on those who are working. Think.Good point. Probably cheaper just to fund welfare programs.
Dems have told Speaker Johnson that they will not vote to reopen government until they have a guarantee that Republicans aren't going to double healthcare premiums for hard working Americans. Republicans refuse to agree to this. Instead they'd rather the whole country suffers.51 republicans and 3 democrat/independents voted to open the gov't.
You spelled Trump/Johnson wrong. This is Schumer/Jeffries shut down.
Surre he does. If Trump gave Johnson the go ahead to agree to extend the ACA's tax credits the government would immediately reopen.Trump has nothing to do with it--
Fake news. Republicans have the White House AND majorities in both houses of Congress. They own this.Educate yourself. Schumer could have spent the last 26 days negotiating the issues, instead he threw a hissy fit and decided to hold the country hostage.
Quit your whining snowflake!Put the blame where it belongs and as I said IDGAF if the SNAP/EBT and ACA disappear and are never heard of again. See what happens when you hold the country hostage?
Are Republicans even negotiating? It seems like they've just locked themselves in a closet waiting for Dems to fold.Dems have told Speaker Johnson that they will not vote to reopen government until they have a guarantee that Republicans aren't going to double healthcare premiums for hard working Americans. Remember all that crowing you MAGAts did last November about your "overwhelming win?"
Well...how does all that "winning" feel a year later when it's time to own the failures you voted for?
Quit your whining snowflake!
The economy is becoming a casino. I thought this was a good article. The utopian scenario you imagine is known as the Horatio Alger myth. They teach about it in college level American history classes.
Huh? I hate poor people because I want to stop them from stealing other people’s property, after they’ve threatened to do so? I guess you’re one of those libtards who would like to make shoplifting legal.
You’re an absolute idiot. Stores would have GREATER reduced profits if they just let thugs walk out the door with all their foodI hated being poor so U set my ambitions on not being that way

That's called holding the country hostage to get their way instead of negotiating. I can see the demise of the ACA as a result of the Schumer shutdown tantrum.Dems have told Speaker Johnson that they will not vote to reopen government until they have a guarantee that Republicans aren't going to double healthcare premiums for hard working Americans. Republicans refuse to agree to this. Instead they'd rather the whole country suffers.
Off topic.You spelled Trump/Johnson wrong.
Johnson did his job. He and the majority of the house voted for a clean Continuing Resolution. Petulant democrats are holding the country hostage to their tantrum. The fact that they won't pass the CR is proof that they don't want to negotiate.Surre he does. If Trump gave Johnson the go ahead to agree to extend the ACA's tax credits the government would immediately reopen.
That is exactly right and those majorities have voted for the CR across the board---spoiled democrats refuse to add six votes---on Schumer's direction. SCHUMER'S SHUTDOWN.Fake news. Republicans have the White House AND majorities in both houses of Congress.
Remember that on Nov. 1 and again on Nov. 21 when your communist programs come to an end.Quit your whining snowflake!
If a job is available then government assistance should not be an optionThat should be determined by the workers. If the job offers what the worker needs to live on then the employee accepts the terms.
If not they look elsewhere including government assistance.
It is, nobody is forced to take a job. If someone values themselves at $10/hr, and the employer says, no I value it at $8/hr, he doens't have to take the job. That should be determined by the workers. If the job offers what the worker needs to live on then the employee accepts the terms.

what's there to negotiate? It's a continued resolution, we are just contining what we all already agreed to.Are Republicans even negotiating? It seems like they've just locked themselves in a closet waiting for Dems to fold.
