Sleep deprivation? No worries, they're working on a pill for that.

Amitriptyline. Cheap, effective, no morning hangover, not a sleeping pill, but the right dose will put you to sleep.
I have delayed sleep phase syndrome. It sounds like you do too. Others in my family have advanced sleep phase syndrome.
I will pass that by my Dr. next time I go.
Thanks

Melatonin helps.
I've tried everything.

Prescription sleep aids give me diarreah.
OTC meds just make me feel sick to my stomach.
They don't do anything for sleep, not for me.

Melatonin makes me drowsy, but if I do fall asleep, its only for about 30 minutes, then I wake up.

If you function ok you might be a ‘short sleeper,’. If not you might consider a sleep study.,

Been there, done that.

What ever it is, it runs in my family. My granny had it. My sister has it.
I have it.

That seems like short sleeping. The short-sleeper-syndrome (SSS) comprises a rare group of people who naturally thrive on significantly less sleep. 4-6 hours a night. They wake up fully refreshed and alert.

Thats not me.
2-4 hours a night.......IF I'm lucky.

Wake up tired, listless, and I pop out at parties.

Even Vitameatavegeman don't help none!!!! LOL

I haven't been able to sleep very well, if at all, for decades now.
One of my doctors evern had me go do a sleep study, which had me at 93%....which they said was the worst they've ever seen so far.

My doctor wants me on a Cpap machine at night. But there are two problems.
1. My insurance won't cover all of it, and at $5,000.00 for a deductable, thats not happening.
2. I cannot sleep with a Darth Vader mask on my face.

Sleeping pills just give me diarreah, and don't work otherwise.

The only thing that "puts me out" is Benedryl. Which my Drs state is not good taking it for long periods of time. Plus it doesn't mix with some of my diabetes meds.

So, I just don't sleep.

And speaking as someone who hasn't been able to sleep for decades, I'd appreciate something CHEAP and CLEAN with no side effects, that works. Don't care if it's an implanted microchip or a pill.
Yeah, I've done Benedryl from time to time, but it will mess with your prostate. Plus it seems like one will work the one night, then two the next, then three, and then no matter, they stop working well. Melatonin is OK, but I've only found one brand that seems to work, but again, more than one or two nights and then nothing. I've tried stronger stuff too but still, a 'tolerance' builds quickly.

I fall back to mental exercises to help. I 'feel' for the edge of sleep, then try to direct myself into a dream in that spot so that I hopefully slip deeper into it, if that makes any sense.
