ISIS is the Fremen (who are desert-dwellers who make mention of jihad in the movie) overthrowing the puppet regime who produce Spice which the entire universe (i.e. Earth) depend on for interstellar travel (i.e. oil for fueling our ships and vehicles.)
The US intervening in Iraq is like the Emperor in the movie pressured to intervene against the Fremen by the Spacing Guild "who depend on Spice."
Unfortunately for my analogy, the Emperor looses to the Fremen.
