Should Trump purchase Canada?

I'm sure there are Pros and Cons to absorbing Canada - some obvious, some actually requiring some thought.

Is there any support for the idea up there?

Doubtful.

However, I suppose the ONE Province in which such an idea might take hold would be Quebec.

There are enough French-speaking Separatists up there to make-a-go of the idea, I suppose.

After all... the latest 'movement' in Quebec to break away occurred well within Living Memory, as I recall.

Their best chance of breaking away would be for the Province of Quebec to apply for US Statehood.

And, once Quebec is gone, the floodgates might open in one or more other Provinces.

But even a separatist Quebec seems an unlikely prospect.

Besides... who wants a non-English -speaking State and out-of-synch culture to deal with?

It's probably best to leave Canada as-is unless we begin to pursue a North American Union of some kind.

An English-speaking Union.
Quebec may become a separate nation in a breakup scenario.

Ontario is bankrupt, corrupt and creepy. This would be perhaps the worst part of the deal, on top of some creepy large cities we have here.

How much will you offer to buy an East German emulating province that is in debt $300B?

No. While I feel bad for the small number of right-thinking Canadians trapped behind enemy lines… they had plenty of warning on what their country was turning into and chose not to get out. I understand what that’s like, as a Conservative stuck here in the Communistwealth of Taxachusetts, but we all have to accept the consequences of our decisions.

No offence to the US, but why would Canada want to join with it's annoying neighbour!! So that won't t happen.

And post #7 was truthful, anti cliche!! What's happening around here?
Canada is however, part of NATO. By Treaty, the US would have to defend Canada from...the US.

Canada has a lower budget deficit, healthcare, public education. The only thing they don't have is proper TexMex.

I think the question is moot. I get the impression most Canadians don't care for the U.S. and/or Americans so I believe the general populace would never go along with the idea.

ON the flipside, if the US turned Canada into ten states, the Republicans would be out of power for generations.

Maybe. From a political standpoint it would certainly introduce a whole plethora of new and interesting problems and conflicts, to say the least.

What about it? My family is English.
I think he means it has a picture of Da Queen on it (or used to).

For the record, Canada is a fully independent country, like Australia and New Zealand. It is also part of NATO and has never lost a war, including three against the US or rebels coming from the US.
