Should Trump go to jail for mishandling classified information?

Hillary didn't "mishandle" classified information, and the law for doing so was only a misdemeanor at the time. Trump signed the law making mishandling classified information at felony.

Imagine that, Trump will be going to jail for violating a law that he created.

It's so delicious it has to be fattening.
Listen to the legal eagle speak.

Denial?

That is your new tactic?
:laughing0301:
Truth. That’s why you’re unfamiliar with it. And it’s not a new tactic. But you should really consider someday giving the truth a chance, Leftwhiner.

(I’m not very hopeful that a troll with an intentionally dishonest username will ever give truth a chance.)

Did he intend to illegally store TOP Secret Documents?
It comes down to, he did

Can Trump claim he had no idea the Documents were in the same drawer with his personal effects?

Fact is, Trump admits he had the documents and knew about it
Yea they got him, he was going to sell them to the Russians cause he needed the money. :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg:

I have no idea why Trump thought he needed TOP SECRET Documents when he was no longer President

Between the two of you I've lost track of the conversation. Bottom line, trump took classified documents, something no ex-president has a right to keep. The courts will decide the rest.
Nope. Not a bottom line at all. Instead, one of the points of contention.

He “took” formerly classified documents. Not exactly a minor distinction.

And the courts will only handle criminal charges if actually brought.

X POTUSES have all done similar in the past but never got the treatment Trump is getting. BTW any document a President takes is automatically declassified. The bureaucracy has to keep up.

As far as I'm concerned, the courts need to do their job no matter what the consequences. America has to get over this insanity.

So, let me get this straight

Trump just left clearly marked TOP SECRET documents lying around so that uncleared movers could just scoop them up with his other stuff?
Well that’s the thing isn’t it. There couldn’t have been any movers not cleared and trained by the Secret Service right? There had to be DOJ and FBI and all the other kinds of people involved.

It’s not like the POTUS calls a random moving company, takes bids and the winner runs around the White House packing shit and throwing it in a truck.

These moves have to be cleared. The people involved cleared. The trucks escorted to Florida.

Nothing that was there could have been under the radar.

The courts do their jobs. And I am not aware of any circumstances that are impeding that.

What insanity? The crap being perpetrated by the Democrats? How does America get past that deliberately insane crap? It’s not as though the Dims are suddenly going to admit that they’re full of shit and start behaving like mature and responsible people.

What is the jail time for intentionally or negligently misplacing the information contained WITHIN those empty folders?
What was in them? Was there ever anything in them? We should put those folders on a lie detector.

That's what trump said himself, " We just gathered up things and threw them in boxes in the last moments. " Obviously these top secret documents were just laying around.

Trump says he should……

In my administration, I'm going to enforce all laws concerning the protection of classified information. No one will be above the law."

"One of the first things we must do is to enforce all classification rules and to enforce all laws relating to the handling of classified information," he said in September 2016.
Speaking in July of that year, Trump said Clinton's mishandling "disqualifies" her from public service.

"Any government employee who engaged in this kind of behavior would be barred from handling classified information," Trump said. "Again, that alone disqualifies her

He didn't, since he had the power to declassify anything he wanted.

Next question.

Clinton wasn't the President of the United States and actually, illegally had an unsecured service that she used to conduct government business, as well as likely illegal business with foreign countries...

The two situations aren't even remotely close....he can and did declassify at will, because he was the President with the sole power to do that on his own, she was a lowly government official with no power to do that.....

Next question.

The precedent was set by Hillary Clinton. So the obvious answer is 'No'.

Actually, no, it wasn't, since Trump, as the actual President of the United States, had the sole power to declassify any information at will..........she didn't have that power and broke the law.....

Actually what trump did was way worse by any standard, including his own with stiffer penalties. I guess he enjoys breaking his own rules.
