What part of "DC is a crime infested shit-hole" did you not understand?
Crime is still 140% (2.4x) higher than the national average, when it needs to be lower than the national average.
Home Rule failed.
What part of the Constitution has Mayor as one of the President's job positions and duties?

ENOUGH ALREADY! Just STOP!

DC is the nation's capitol, it needs to be a showplace, not a crime infested shit-hole.

"Home Rule" failed miserably, its time to re-Federalize DC.

Miami crime is about the national average. DC is 2.5x more crime ridden. So much for your straw-man.

The metro areas genius - as if Miami Beach isnt metro Miami. Lol. Sure, the actual cities have a slight variation the other way but comparing both metro areas shows us that the crime rate is lower in DC and its safer than it has been in 40 years... but never miss a chance to shit on America's economic engines for your culture war.

Has nothing to do with Trumps claims about DC
He can do nothing for Baltimore or Chicago, if they want anarchy that's their choice. He can exercise some common sense of the federal district, and he should. Just throwing money and enabling the pack behavior hasn't worked there.

And why is it a “hoot” when a white gets beaten by a group of blacks? Would you enjoy it as much if the vicitm were black and beaten by a group of whites?
Because it was that uber arsehole, Big Balls.

What bliss.

Glad you asked Skipper

It shows that DC is not even in the Top 10 most violent cities and disproves Trumps justification to take control of DC
The justification is irrelevant, like for the tariffs, it's just a talking point hung out while Chump seizes as much power as he can.

You leftists are nasty. He still didn’t deserve to be beaten by uncivilized black teens with no parental supervision.

He only wants control to try to improve that shithole. I went to DC for my honeymoon in the 80s and then in the early 2000s when my son was stationed there. I almost moved there in the 90s. The crime was much worse in the later years and has only gotten worse. Get outside the National Mall area and the other tourist areas and your life may be in danger.

The pecking order is not the issue. The issue is that this is our nation’s Capitol and should be safe.

I agree it’s impossible to control some of the worst areas - like SE Washington area of Ward 8. It’s almost 90% black, everyone is on welfare, illegitimate children running unsupervised.

But I’m all for carving out a “safe zone” in a two-or three-mile mile radius around the National Mall. That would be safely within the zone of multiple metro stations, and tourists could visit our nation’s Capitol without fear of being mugged or beaten.

I say if the radical leftists can carve out “No Jew Zones” on their college campuses than decent percent can carve out “No Crime Zones” around the WH and Capitol!

Condemn the neighborhoods, move the residents out to some Blue $hithole or another, then gentrify-the-hell outta the place.

Make it unaffordable for trailer trash and bring-in people who will respect life, the law, and each other.

Let’s start with getting rid of the homeless. There are homeless tent cities within blocks of the WH.

I took my son to DC in 2023 to see Rage Against the Machine at MCI Center and do the whole DC/NOVA/BALTIMORE HARBOR tourist thing.

I could not believe all the homeless people 3 merely BLOCKS from the White House.

Tents in parks all over the place.

I had not been since 2014….the city was not nearly as trashed as it was in 2023.

We took the subway ONCE…YIKES.

UBER AND CAR RENTALS AND BIRD SCOOTERS THE REST OF THE WEEK.

DC other than the Mall itself is nasty squalor.

We took Bird scooters to see RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE. 😂. Hotel was about 2 miles from the Venue.

I had two bouts of working down there - once in my 20s and once in my 50s.

Both times, I had to constantly dodge the homeless asking for handouts, and many were aggressive. What changed, though, is that there weren’t all these homeless tents all over the place. I used to bring my lunch out to Lafayette Park on nice days and enjoy the atmosphere. Now? Forget about it.

But the Constitution gives the President no power to run the Federal District of Columbia. The Constitution SPECIFICALLY gives that power to CONGRESS, and Congress developed their governing system of D.C thru the system they have now....through a Mayor.

Yeah... but it's a drop-in-the-bucket and takes (metaphorically speaking) two minutes to fix.

The Rot runs a lot deeper than that and is concentrated in the "bad neighborhoods" you mentioned.

Those will take more effort... so.... use the Homeless Thing as a warm-up exercise... then start following-up...

But crime was worse back then when you worked there, than now....?
