Bingo- my stoic husband stated the same thing about suspending him. It was two days of “evidence” not just one that others- a teacher who reported the drawing and different teacher saw his ammo search? Secondary schools are not usually so lax about cell phone policies during school hours, at least where I live. Even when searching for fashion tips it’s not conducive to learning. So, the school shares responsibility and had my child been brutally massacred, that fact would not be out of the equation.

Reportedly, the school blamed the parents for not taking him home with them, following that second meeting the day of the shooting, but I agree with you Sartre that the school should’ve suspended him from school immediately with security escorting him out.

Potential parent responsibility will be determined in court regarding any “pre-knowledge” they didn’t disclose to school during the 2 back-to-back meetings with school officials. Because they were at the school when the gun was in their son’s backpack (without their knowledge presumably) but had knowledge the dad had just purchased a gun for the son who’d drawn pictures of acting out a gun scenario, why didn’t one of them mention this after seeing the drawings and reading the words- help me? This should have been prevented had his locker/backpack been checked. I have little doubt the school officials and his parents have had little sleep since that horrendous day.

And the parents could easily have decided to leave him at the school because they had things to discuss and descions to make and it would be easier if he wasn't home when they did it.....

They may very well have thought that he was in a secure, safe location, surrounded by trained educational professionals, all adults.....as well as social workers, school psychologists and psychiatrists.....and school security....and likely even a police resource officer....

The school and the prinicpal at the meeting obviously did not see him as an immediate and deadly threat...

How do we know?

If they had considered him as a dangerous, immediate, deadly threat, they would have secured the kid, isolated him by taking him to a location where he could be monitored and controlled, by school security or the campus cop, searched his locker and his backpack....

They didn't do this...they told the parents that they needed to get him counseling......

So.......they went home...do you know what they were doing? What they planned on doing......?

Were they going to return the gun, were they going to find a psychiatrist or counselor?

You don't know....

And then the attack happened.....

No one knows what actually happened in that meeting, what the school principal actually said....

Until then....people need to stand down......

He was looking up ammo, at the time we don't know if he had shown actual signs of his issues...at this point, this means nothing....

You'll get no argument from me about media/press targeting houses of families associated with news and chaos.

In this particular case though, it appears to be more about the parents at least feeling guilty and deciding to run. Maybe the MI laws about buying a gun for a 15 yr old or the dad didn't know the state's laws? Maybe the dad did know. Reportedly, the dad withdrew $4,000 out of ATM that same morning they were picked up, so that's another thing but I won't say that's 100% true as I only read it in one news article. It's a shame now you can't just have 2 sources because 1 could be a lie and the other most likely a lie too. Leftist political agenda for continued interventionism is alive and well unfortunately.

But I'm not sure if criminal charges should apply.

I guess if you can get a murder charge for accidentally leaving the parking brake off in your car when you go into the Quicky Mart, and it rolls away and kills someone, you can get a murder charge for not securing a gun well enough.

Yep. It looks awfully bad. That acknowledged, the truth is we don’t know the context. Maybe mom wasn’t mad at the little mutant over some shit he did at home. And he comment about not getting caught was her way of lightening the mood. (Yeah. I doubt this too. But it’s one possibility).

Answering the OP's question, it's my personal opinion .... I think parents of thugs like those, should not be arrested for accessory to whatever crimes their children commit.

99% of the times, parents of those evil creatures, are decent and respectable people of faith and good members of their communities,....and they are not responsible of their children's crimes.

Answering the OP's question, it's my personal opinion .... I think parents of thugs like those, should not be arrested for accessory to whatever crimes their children commit.

99% of the times, parents of those evil creatures, are decent and respectable people of faith and good members of their communities,....and they are not responsible of their children's crimes.

Many of those gang members were born out of wedlock; unplanned, unwanted, and uncared for. Those 'breeders' are responsible for perpetuating generational poverty. However they cannot be held accountable because there's nothing to be gained by it.
