You assume slavery should be based on race. That is nowhere in my title.

I am not even advocating that slavery should be made legal. My argument is that slavery is a societal ill, just like prostitution, just like illicit drug use, etc. In fact, those activities are themselves a type of slavery.

But the argument from the Left is always, legalize those vices in order to make them "safer" so people have the freedom to pursue those vices despite it's potential detriment to them.

So, who not do the same with slavery? You could provide the slaves with a nice place to live, enough food to eat, and reasonable hours to work, etc. just in the same way they are passing out clean needles in San Fran to drug addicts.

I realize that I'm rubbing against the grain of society when I say these things, but I really don't give a damn. If you had not noticed, the majority of society realizes it is on the wrong path overall, at least, according to polls.. But the truth is, prostitution exposes people to a whole host of pathogens. There is no debating that. It also, in my opinion, undermines the long-held desire for intimacy with another human being that leads to a whole host of psychiatric issues and other such dysfunctions. It also abuses and trivializes the main evolutionary instincts we have to have sex, which is to reproduce.
