Is it gun free? Or do we not allow nutcases like you in there. Grandma may not be there but Model 870 is. If the thugs come in with weapons out, it's time to try and make it as bloodless as possible. If a hero like you is in there, you will try and take your weapon out and the blood starts to flow on both sides. A couple of hundred isn't worth that. Now, if they start with the blood letting, my Model 870 deploys mighty fast from the other side of the counter. Much faster than your handgun with the safety strap. The best way to keep the bad guy from being stupid is to make them guess if anyone is armed or not. Advertise that you are armed means they may come in shooting.

On my personal property, I do get to say who is openly armed. How about No One. And that has already been upheld in court. In what universe? Here in the real world judicial action is required for the denial of constitutional rights. A person who has been committed to a mental facility or been judged incompetent has been in front of a judge.

Wrong. You can also be under a restraining order, being investigated for making public death threats, etc. The permit will be investigated against your police file. And it's up to either the Sheriff's office or Police department whether you get it or not. You do have the right to contest it afterwards which is done infrequently. Hate to break it to you but you don't get to make the rules up as you go.

Once again the law allows the Local authorities to bring anyone suspected of a mental problem before a judge. You want to just arbitrarily deny rights based on no findings. Guess what you don't get to do that.

First of all I do not agree with the current administration's opinion that American Military Veterans should be suspected of engaging in domestic terrorism. I do, however, believe that Veterans who have been determined to be so psychotic that they are awarded a disability pension related to their mental disorder should never be able to legally possess or purchase a firearm unless their specific psychiatric veterans administrator signs off on each forearm.

But what purpose would that serve? Would it prevent someone who wants a firearm from obtaining one, or more than one?

The situation is analogous to recreational drugs. For the past four decades government at all levels has inflicted severe harm on the Nation in the name of the War On Drugs, yet at this time any illegal drug is available within ten miles of any inhabited part of the U.S. to anyone with money to spend. And anyone who really wants to buy a gun and has money to spend will find someone who has guns for sale.

And the more rigid the gun laws become the more active the bootlegging will be.
