Of course, I lived near the border with Italy and Slovenia, so you have three complete different cultures going on within a very small distance.

However, to say Germans are the same as Austrians would be like saying Texans are the same as New Yorkers. There are similarities, especially when compared with other peoples, but still, the people of Texas would scoff at the idea that they're in any way similar.

I think I'd go so far as to say the Austrians are most similar to the Germans of all the Germans' neighbours.

All of a sudden, my family in America just never got another letter. Then they knew.
