A Christian could be a person who was raised in a christian family that believes even a portion of the word. A dedicated Christian is one who has given their heart to Jesus Christ as their savior; after that all things are possible depending on the individual.
Very inclusive of you except you failed to define a 'christian family'. So really anyone who says they are a Christian, you'd consider a Christian? I presume you'd include Catholics, Mormons, Quakers, Unitarians, and Mormons. Would you also include Muslims since they consider Jesus a great prophet? What about children too young to understand Jesus?

Doesn't the Bible tell us that God will bless those who support Israel?
Doesn't surprise me if that is in the OT since it was written by Jews. I don't recall it in the NT which doesn't surprise me either since there was a lot of blame placed on Jews for the death of Jesus and it got worse through the years.

The other poster defined a Christian as "one who has given their heart to Jesus Christ as their savior." That excludes Muslims as a great prophet is not a Savior. It could be debatable how much someone kissing a statue of Mary has given his heart to Jesus as savior, or how much someone who believes in universal salvation has given his heart to Jesus as savior.

But, really, you're playing the jew's advocate here. The definition you were given wasn't mean to be exhaustive.

Hell no! God hates Israel and curses those who bless Israel. That's why have had 9/11 and all the other issues stemming from the middle-east and our support of Israel.

Here's what the Old Testament says, "I will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel... I will no more have mercy on the house of Israel, to forgive them at all... I will not save them... You are not my people, and I am not your God."

Clear enough?

God said to Abraham, "I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you." Some people says this applies to Israel. But, the New Testament teaches that this applies to the church, "If you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, heirs according to promise." The Old Testament teaches this, of Abraham's children, only the faithful child, Isaac, inherited Abraham's promise. The Arabs are Abraham's descendants, but unless they're Christian, they're not part of the church.

As I understand it, evangelicals support Israel, not out of love of Jews, but to bring about the second coming of Jesus. I suspect they believe the Jews will then be sent to hell since they don't follow Jesus.

The practical result of their support is a defiant Israeli state that has no real need to make peace with it's neighbors. Satan could do no better if he wanted to bring misery to man so my answer to evangelicals is STOP supporting Israel.
Doesn't the Bible tell us that God will bless those who support Israel?
Yes, but it also tells you not to eat shellfish, so....

I gave you what is the general overall description of who is considered or defined as a Christian or those who identify themselves as Christian. It could be anyone of those things I mentioned.

'Would I believe them just because they say they are Christian', not necessarily.

If someone merely considered Jesus Christ a great prophet would they be a believer in Jesus Christ in the sense of being a Christian? No. Test the spirit.

Odd that you would be asking about children. My three year old daughter could comprehend the difference between what the spirit of life was that returned to God and that which was dead flesh which was buried in the back yard when she asked me about the bird that had died while I was at the hospital with my son who had been pronounced brain dead.

The other poster defined a dedicated Christian as "one who has given their heart to Jesus Christ as their savior." That only confused me and I'm still left with thinking that Christians can't define their own faith. Not to worry, I'd guess that Jews, Muslims, and every other religion is in the same boat. Probably the difference between science and faith.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to me that Christianity is similar to pornography in that it is impossible to define but you know it when you see it.

First off, I'm very sorry to hear about your son. Parents should not have to bury their children but I'm guessing your faith in an afterlife eases the pain.

I'm sure you're daughter is very precocious but I doubt she has an opinion on the definition of Christianity.

Should Evangelical Christians support modern day atheist Jews and hypocrite Jews in Israel who want their money but are building attack teams to attack their Christian faith and promote their anti-Christ agendas against Messianic Jews? Do they really think that restoring a man-made temple is what Jesus is all about? There are Chaldeans 'clod breakers' throughout the world but why would the faithful that know the spirit follow them and pay into their coffers to keep a spirit of Nebuchadnezzar 'may the propagandist protect the crown' a spiritual Babylonian king/pharaoh 'a great king with a little lantern' ruling over them?

I ask because of reading through so many counter Christian groups. Tthey appear from what they write to view Christians as parasites. The same type treatment is given to Christians in the Middle-east, African Christians and the Christians who are Palestinians who are following the teachings of Christ. Apparently they want the money from American Christians but at the same time have been organizing a movement against Christians. That somewhat of reminds me of the Islamist that believe they have the right to tax anyone who does not believe in their dogma and carnal theology and theories.

Why would Christian leaders or as another poster here referred to them 'the heavy weights of Christianity' support worldly (carnal) aspirations of people that believe that they are far superior to anyone else? Could it be that they have missed what the the spirit taught the prophets through the ages?

Legislative Issues

Jews do not like Christians, they have Christians fighting their wars, Iraq, Syria, and have Christians giving them money besides the aid we give to Israel. They and the Sunnis are good buds.

Now they want us to take out Iran.

I didn't have to bury my son I actually took him home about noon on the third day of the whole ordeal of doctors telling me he was totally brain dead (full life support, etc. until the later part in the evening of the second day) and if by chance he lived he would remain a total vegetable but thanks for the nice thoughts. On that third day all of the scans and test came back showing absolutely nothing out of the normal. I mentioned the part about my daughter believing and comprehending about the spirit at three years old because you asked 'what about children'. After explaining where the life spirit of those whom we love returns to God to her I asked her if she understood and she exclaimed, "Yes mommy, birdie is in heaven with God". Even though she and her grandma buried birdies lifeless body in the back yard my daughter knew that was merely a container for the spirit within. For me it was an epiphany of what a hypocrite I was if I told her that and didn't fully believe it myself and I spent a lot of time apologizing to God for not putting my trust where it belong on my way back down the mountain to the hospital that day. Today my son's son is a teen so that was a few years back when that all took place.

edit: Christ himself already gave the perfect ensample of what it is to be a Christian. And he said follow me. He didn't say follow anyone or anything else but he allowed his disciples a spirit to teach and show what did not get written down or recorded. He also stated that part about the generation of vipers (Pharisees and Sadducees) and explained the holy spirit 'comforter' what would come to assist his followers after he returned to the spirit. That all remains viable for those who pick up their cross and follow him.

A pretty big paint brush you have there but hey everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

How could you NOT like anyone who gives you money and fights for you? Which Sunnis are their good buds?

Actually they want to take out Iran, it is the US (or was before Trump) that is insisting on diplomacy.

You seem to have a fact-free, faith-based view of the world.

Clear enough?
I envy people who know God's thoughts and feelings.

Your use of the OT is not clear at all, at least to me. It appears you're conflating the Jewish people with the ancient Kingdom of Israel. All citizens of that kingdom were Jews but not all Jews were citizens of that kingdom. I'm no scholar but it seems to me you bear false witness.

Do you think humans should expect something different when a spirit of Babylon 'confusion by mixing' has been loosed unchecked for so many years?

Actually I haven't stated what I believe Israel is on this forum that I know of. The OP is talking about the land now called Israel and the hypocrisy of certain Rabbi's, preachers and scholars. If we start speaking biblical about spiritually Israel this will have to be reserved for another day.

Though most of the citizens of Israel are not Christian (many in fact openly hostile to the NT and it's Christ), Israel as a nation is a special tool of God.
Christ was not a political activist, nor are his real followers (the only people who should be labeled "Christian").

The faith of Christians is made stronger by seeing modern Israel as the fulfillment of the OT predictions that after a long time period of dispersal Israel would be reestablished as a nation.

Naturally non-believers cannot see modern Israel as fulfillment .... because they have already made up their mind that since God does not exist, obviously God never did anything.

If the OT is from God/true (as I'm confident it is), then soon we will SEE a Russian ("great power to REMOTE north") led invasion of Israel.

The OT reveals the outcome of this invasion. The invaders will be annihilated.

This event will cause many current non-believers to become believers in the God revealed in the Bible.

No point in arguing about it ..... just wait and see.
