Should DC become a state and get 2 Senators and voting rights for residents?

If the TRUE issue is VOTING RIGHTS, then give DC back to Maryland.

Virginia already got their part back...just give DC back to Maryland....both are deep blue areas.

Simple AF.

Making DC a state is ONLY about increasing Dems in Congress....not about disenfranchised voters.

I 100% support giving DC back to Maryland...it should be that way.
You keep forgetting. Maryland doesn't want it!

Its about socialism pushed by a sell out political class to the elites and globalists. When empowered they have a reputation to not take any shit. And in the end they will reduce resources to those they made promises to as the nation continues its decline. We are now condemning parents who complain to Progressive Socialist Globalist school boards that they can not defend their raped children in schools as they will be domestic terrorists. There was a time that a father would take a rifle into one of these places and clean it out. We all are diminished because of the insanity you promote. And in the end you will get it the worst. Not as a threat, but out of necessity.
Like hyperbole much?

Let's see a documented case of that happening.

but that’s all land that MD donated to help form the district…shouldn’t it go back to MD?

and what are we talking 8sq miles?

seems rather foolish to make that a state.

Why not just do the easy thing and exempt them from federal taxes? that would solve the no taxation without representation narrative

what are we going to do about these too big states? like Cali? shouldn’t we break them up? even texas? and then states like Montana, that need more people, shouldn’t we split up part of washington and just give it to Montana?

8 square miles? You really suck at math AND geography!

Washington, D.C./Area
68.34 mi²

I think Idaho would have something to say about Montana going to Washington state.

They already have their one Congressperson, it's just now that person could actually vote.

It's like you guys can't stop admitting the only reason you don't want a 51st (or 52nd) state is pure politics.

If there were hundreds of thousands of Americans who did not have the ability to vote due to the piece of land found on American soil not being considered a state and that was the only thing blocking them from access to equal representation I would be all in on welcoming in a new state.

You didn't address what I said, racist fuck

You need to take a few minutes to look up facts.

Washington DC is much more than 8 sq miles.

If you include the capitol and all the federal buildings it's 68.34 sq miles.

If you remove the capitol and all the federal buildings it's 61.05 miles.

You seem to think that DC is much smaller than it is.

Maryland doesn't want that and D.C. doesn't want that. You can't force a state to change it's boundaries just because you don't like the idea of two senators elected by a large black population.
If D.C. voted 80% Republican you would oppose statehood. The push for statehood by the Democratic Party has nothing to do with fair representation. It has to do with making a political power grab.

Why or why not?

I say NO.

The remaining part of DC should be given BACK to Maryland...and then the residents have voting rights as Marylandins.

Virginia already got their piece back...now give MAryland back their piece.

By the way, the 3 westernmost counties in MAryland are trying to leave Maryland and join WEST VIRGINIA.

MAryland should love this...shed off a bunch of Red votes.
No.

No. I believe citizens have a right to representation.

Clearly your agenda is political power.

I also think Puerto Rico should be a state and they tend to be very conservative

1. Irrelevant. The Church’s tax exempt status has no bearing

2. You’re talking about YOUR preference. Representation is based on population
1) I never mentioned the church's tax status....a charity is expect to give out donations. The Federal Govt isn't. The land was given on the condition to create a Federal District...not to donate
2) Sure it's my preference...I don't disagree that representation IN THE HOUSE is based on population....what's your point? We are talking about Statehood, not represenation.

What does the 8 square miles you are talking about, bring to the United States and make it worthy of being it's own state?

"To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square)"

8 square miles (taking out the land given back to VA) was an guess, but comes close to the number your cited.

Thanks for playing.....

Sorry, should have typed 8 miles square. That's what I meant.

Still very very very very very small for a state, especially if the plan is to crave out a federal district from that.

8 square miles is over 68 square miles? I guess we can add writing the English language to the list.

The Constitution says to not exceed 10 miles square, which is 100 square miles. It is a square with length of 10 miles on each side.

I don't know how you came up with 8 anywhere!

no 8 miles squared is actually a little less...again, I guessed on the 8 figure, could be a little more.

I am not sure how you don't understand where I got the 8....I took the roughly 10, orginally given, ballparked the land given back to VA, and estimated 8....which 8 miles squared, comes to just under the actual figure you cited.

Take a look at a map of DC and see that Virginia and DC are separated by a river. There is no "square" to it. Why not tuck your tail, admit you were talking out of your ass, and show proper respect for your betters, and apologize for being a moron?

huh? you think something has to actually be square shaped?

I really don't get what you are saying? 8 miles squared is roughly the number you cited.
