Sequels/Prequels As Good As The Original Movie

I just remembered Batman Begins. I think that counts as a prequel. Or a reboot.

Whatever the case, it was the best of all the Batman movies from 1989 forward, though I have not seen them all.

Batman Begins was the only one of the Dark Knight trilogy which didn't suck.

I liked the second one. I actually think the Nolan films are an improvement over the campy Burton/Schumaker ones.

I loved Warriors. I've watched it many times, and played it for my kids a couple years ago.

It holds up very well.

I'm also a Joe Walsh fan.

Yes, Swan, Ajax and the crew are going to Broadway.... Can't wait to see the casting....

On the other hand, I trust LMM....

They are different. The Burton films are campy art. The Nolan ones are attempted realism and suspense.

Yeah, and that's the problem.

Batman is actually a pretty serious character, with some great stories. Probably the best character in the Superhero genre.

Instead of portraying the characters the way they are written in the comics, they just get some high-paid actor to wear the costume and play their on-screen personas. (The worst offenders being Jim Carrey's Riddler and Danny DeVito's Penguin.)

In short, they turned the characters into clowns.

My biggest disappointment was Tommy Lee Jones (an actor I normally like) playing Two-Face. Or Arnold making bad Ice puns as Mr. Freeze.

If you want to watch really good Batman stories, you should watch the Batman animated series from the 1990s.

I am fortunate I only saw the 1989 Batman movie with Michael Keaton and none of his sequels. The next Batman movie I saw was Batman Begins with Christian Bale which I felt was very good. The rest of the Bale movies sucked.

I skipped all the others as I am not really a comic book movie kind of guy. I have skipped all of the Marvel movies as well, except the Guardians of the Galaxy.
