Supergirl looks pretty good to me...

And having saw it, I am ever the more disinterested in or encouraged by the film.

Hollywood sure has slid over the past 50 years!
I figure it will stand or fall on its merits. But since I can’t yet observe its merit, I plan on refraining from prejudging it.

The latest Superman movie was kind of just ok. If I had to guess, this entry will probably not be very much different.

Seems standards for movies are pretty low these days, take away all of the glitz and camera magic and cgi, do you think Supergirl would have passed for a film in the 1930s? The1940s?

Sure, they would have been dazzled by the computer cinematic magic, but after that? Not so much.

Worse, think of the world view these films paint of life compared to the worldview in early cinema. Things have gotten very dark and sinister.

It was a nice departure from the dreary morally-ambivalent Zack Snyder DC movies but ... the world doesn't need any new Superman (or extended DC universe movies).

The viewing public is exhausted by Hollywood's superhero marathon.

I am not a cinema critic. My eyes have been opened to a new way of assessing movies.

I of course like quality acting where I can see why the actor or actress makes certain choices (in line with the character’s background). I like when I can see why the material for the movie plot made it to film. I enjoy some quality writing (within the bounds of what I deem “quality writing,” that is).

I’m also appreciating a director’s overall vision and how the director makes visual choices to further the story.

I have literally no good basis to prejudge the Milly Alcock’s portrayal of Supergirl (beyond her brief appearance in the Superman movie). And I am not sure that the director will follow the same path as he did for the most recent Superman movie.

Your generation invented shitty movies.

I don’t like the DCs dark Superman. I get the reason cuz you can’t do the same story over and over but it didn’t appeal to me.

The movie is set to bomb and lose 100s $millions.
And yet - somehow - they keep getting funding to make these losers.
And that - is what interest me. Who keeps funding movies that lose tons of money and why??

The streaming and TV rights must make up for losses and the propaganda rules as it infects young women in this case and some males.
