Senator Ron Johnson says he will not vote to confirm Trump’s “Big and Beautiful Bill” in the Senate, stating he “couldn’t care less" If Trump upset

Where in the bill would you cut spending?

Apparently it's like 10 years down the road. That's the smoke and mirrors of all this rhetoric. Because there'll be 20 more bills signed into law that changes most of what's in this bill, before the 10yr mark comes.
Just like this bill changes the last omnibus, and increases spending on something that even Trump signed into law.

This is the problem. You could fill in any name of a fiscal conservative, not just Massie.

People who call for a balanced budget would have much more credibility if they would also present an example of one, ready to be voted on the next day.

Of course, if someone ever did that, it would not be voted on the next day. It would be sent to various committee, selective parts of it would be published/leaked, the media/Democrats would express outrage over such and such cuts, the conservative/alternative media would express outrage over such and such tax increases, and the whole thing would turn into a very unproductive multi-way dogfight.

Love it or hate it, The BBB was Trump's way of trying to overcome that dynamic. Get majorities in both houses, most of the new GOP seats on your coattails, and present them with a take it or leave it budget. It worked in the house, but any given Senator's constituency is much less homogeneous politically than a congressperson's, so he or she has to look for those aggregious cuts/increases or he or she may well lose membership in the sweetest club in the world.

Massie and most other fiscal conservatives have brought up example after example. Their credibility is spot on. The trouble is the big spending RINO's don't want actual cuts in spending. They don't want a balanced budget. They only say they do.
Johnson said just this week about the trillion dollars that was cut in this bill was historic.
But he didn't mention that it spends more.
And when questioned about increasing the debt ceiling, his excuse was that "well, we have to increase the debt ceiling so we can make cuts later."
That's the same BS excuse the RINO's and democrats have been making since the debt was only $2 trillion.

Of balanced budgets?

I stand corrected, then.

Provided that you can link me to one of these balanced budgets Massie brought up.

Yes, I agree what the problem is.

I just don't think the solution is to cry for a balanced budget when no such budget exists. But, if you're about to show me one, I'll hold off on dinner so I can eat my words.

Of balance budgets, of over spending, of increasing debt ceilings. And of the consequences of all that. For decades the FC's (fiscal conservatives) fought, begged and pleaded with RINO's to stop increasing all that.

I could post 100. But here lately, I think they'd be satisfied with just pre covid level spending. But the RINO's can't even do that.

Here's Massie as far back as 2018. It's pretty much the same thing he's been saying since he was elected.

Because they don't mean it.

Maybe with only "5%" true conservatives, the good stuff in the bill could not ever pass? This bill still has leftover Obiden spending as far as I know?

The Courts intervened (for now) in a lot of shutdown/closures/layoffs like DEPT of ED. That good stuff will happen by end of year? perhaps?

This was all a Dirty Congress would approve for now? Blame where blame goes. I don't expect it all in 4 months.

If you "could post 100," why did you post zero?

Massie is saying what I'm saying - many politicians cry for a balanced budget, but they do not have one to propose.

Not blaming them. Obviously, that will fool a certain percent of the voters.

Imaginary balanced budgets will fool some voters, but it cannot fool the economy.

Massie's voting record alone proves everything. The Amendments, the bills he's authored proves everything.
No one here needs to prove anything to anyone. It's not like posting any article, video or voting record is going to do anything more than give someone something to spin or argue about.

That's not exactly true. The biggest lie about all of this is that they had to shove it all into one bill. But there's no reason why this bill couldn't be shopped up into single issue bills. They do this so they can lump all the extremely bad stuff into it with a few good things. So if you vote against the bill because it increases spending, then the RINO's will say you voted against something good, like the tax cuts.

It's the same lame game the RINO's and democrats have been playing for decades. They do it because it works. And since the GOP has outlawed fiscal conservatism, it works even better.

No, you don't need to prove anything to me.

I didn't know whether you would really have a balanced budget that Massie presented or not. I was very willing to admit I was wrong if you did.

But you didn't, so now I know I was right.

My statement stands: If Ronald Reagan, Thomas Massie, Ron or Rand Paul or YoursTruly advocate for a balanced budget, they should start by presenting one.
