In our society today over dramatization abounds they're is a lot of money in advertising and over dramatization brings viewership which brings advertising dollars. But I don't think it is an overdramatization to say that Senator Joe Manchin's major decisions on this reconciliation bill will likely have a bearing on whether America survives long term as a country. I say that because the Democrat Party has failed as stewards of the economy and this reconciliation bill is their last chance to save their reputation in this area. If the Democrats don't turn their performance around with this reconciliation bill the Republicans are highly likely to win at least one Congressional Chamber this November and with the same probability win the White House in 2024 and again in 2028 because plain and simple the Democrats are atrocious as stewards of the economy a governing party's goal should be lower prices and facilitating the private sector to create good paying jobs not causing the opposite which Democrat track record does. The fate of the country is in play because although the Republicans are significantly better at running the economy than the Republicans the Republicans policies don't add up to shared prosperity for everyone in a Republican America the wealthy and the upper middle class do great but mostly everyone else has a hard struggle they don't get to fairly share in America's prosperity and the American people are at their limits on that arrangement. They tried to play within the system by making an act of desperation in electing Donald Trump to remedy this shared prosperity problem but he was too narcistic to do the job. It seems to me that the country is now on a trajectory where eventually the American Public is going to pull down the system which bought the country to this outstandingly bad state and unfortunately one cannot be assured that the good fixes to this problem such as five term limits for house members, two for Senate members; drawing voting districts by algorithms with compactness being the overriding guide and blocks on inordinate amounts coming into elections from individuals and groups of individuals prevailing as changes to the constitution. What is more likely than not what will happen when the American public brings the system down and people try to figure out what is next the disparity in values between major parts of the country will take control of the process; and with the South being fiscal conservative and the North East being tax and spend and socialists true believers and Californians being from Liberal La La land the Country will permanently split apart. Those that say nothing like that will happen are being naive, look what happened with the Canadian Trucker Protests over Covid where they formed a trucker convoy in Ottawa, Canadians' Capitol and largely paralyzed it for a time. In America, public protests could paralyze Washington D.C. render the White House and Capital permanently dysfunctional and the American public could break into the IRS and destroy all their files and find out where all the back up files are and destroy them and that would severely impair the Federal government from collecting taxes; the American Public could have their state governments pass resolutions nullifying all federal laws against their people and just providing Washington a stipend to pay for the military and defense. There isn't any natural law that says an Arab Spring can only happen in the Middle East; people across the forty-nine continental states are quite capable of having an Arab Spring and rising up and toppling the corrupt, bad and dysfunctional government in Washington D.C..
Back to the Reconciliation Bill, the Democrats only hold fifty seats so if Democrat Joe Manchin advocates for the needed reconciliation it has a chance of passing if he advocates for a lousy or bill that doesn't address urgent critical problems which he appears to be doing the bill will likely fail and even if it passes it won't fix things or parts of things which absolutely needs to be fixed and the country will continue on its march to a cliff where it won't survive the fall! Senator Manchin is absolutely right that this reconciliation bill needs to bring more production of oil and natural gas in America and end this energy crisis America is now in and help Europe with its corresponding energy crisis. Joe is right our regulatory system is broken when his state cannot get a natural gas pipeline built from the Marcellus Shale region when Europe is facing the crushing natural gas price of at least four hundred percent higher than it is in America when Europe are supposedly our great allies in a fight to keep a mad man dictator contained! Senator Manchin is absolutely right this reconciliation bill needs to help with the over priced pharmaceutical drug problem in America the American people are being taken totally advantage by the Pharmaceutical industry when one compares the prices that people in other countries throughout the world pay.
Senator Joe Manchin is absolutely incredibly wrong requiring a major percentage or any percentage of the reconciliation bill be put to deficit reduction. The much more urgent problem in America is trying to diminish the hardship experienced by many Americans because of economic disparity brough on by an abundance of unfairness in the system. The Republicans caused the deficit to be out of control with their 2017 tax bill which Speaker Nancy Pelosi uttered words never so eloquent or accurate that it put America on a trajectory to economic "Armageddon"; let the Republicans worry about getting it under control. This being said the Democrats shouldn't speed up the day of Armageddon in America, so Democrats pay for the programs you pass. Senator Manchin has a great track record of doing what is right for America but he is faltering now, high quality leaders are stable unless there is a compelling reason to change major policy they don't; for all of two thousand twenty one Senator Manchin in the negotiations on the reconciliation bill had no lines in the sand on deficit reduction accomplishments in the bill now this year he is acting like it is the eleventh commandment from God there shall be deficit reduction in the reconciliation bill - Senator Manchin come to your senses there is other more pressing needs than deficit reduction for this bill. Senator Joe Manchin and the Democrats should worry about remedying the imbalanced economic prosperity in America. To this end the reconciliation bill should have the $3000/yr advanced paid child tax credit in it which lifts people out of poverty and the program where the Federal government pays half the cost of Child care, it shouldn't be a nightmare for Americans that want to work to figure out how to afford child care; and the reconciliation bill should permanently pay for these programs. I would like Senator Joe Manchin to swear on a bible that he believes that passing these two programs would cause an inflation problem for America, he cannot because it doesn't! Senator Joe Manchin is wrong that this reconciliation bill needs to contain this spending spree on stopping climate change, it is mind boggling all the different types of spending Democrats want to spend here. This type of spending should be a lower priority than urgent social program spending and talk about inflation this will juice inflation meaningfully. The one exception here is there should be great tax credits in the reconciliation bill for EV vehicles, the transition for the country from combustion engine to EV must succeed the U.S. auto industry has bet the house on this transition, this credit from Washington will provide meaningful help, the economic cost of dealing with a financially troubled auto industry will dwarf the cost of this tax credit!
In the news the American public hears reports that some progressive Democrats are upset with Democrat leaders talking with Republicans on passing legislation that will increase domestic fossil fuel production to get America out of the energy crisis the nation is in. Are these Democrats clueless if the November elections were held today there is a ninety percent chance the Republicans take control of at least one chamber of Congress because Democrats suck at addressing the problem of inflation and what do you think is going to be the Republicans top priority that they are going to be psychotic about that is right increasing domestic fossil fuel production. So you can negotiate with the Republicans now and stem the loss of Congressional seats in the upcoming election or you can negotiate with them later when you have less leverage to restrain their agenda.
