Florida’s secretary of state to resign ahead of upcoming elections

Laurel Lee submitted her resignation to Gov. Ron DeSantis Thursday, according to the governor’s spokesperson.

Lee’s resignation does not specifically say why she is resigning. Lee has been secretary of state since February 2019, after DeSantis’ first secretary of state, former Seminole County Supervisor of Elections Mike Ertel was forced to resign amid controversy.

The Florida Secretary of State’s biggest job is overseeing the Division of Elections, including candidate filings and vote tabulations. DeSantis will now have to appoint someone to take on the job, one month before candidate qualifying and with the August primaries just a few months away."

What is it with Republicans and fucking with elections?? He just got rejected for trying to racially target black voters by essentially eliminating 2 black voting districts...or trying to pass legislation to basically nullify election results if you don't like the results.....and now the top elections official is resigning right before the elections on the heels of the previous guy resigning...well whoever he puts in her place, I hope they are prepared to do what is necessary to make sure DeSantis wins...no matter if he or she has to ask John Eastman for tips on how to tabulate votes.....
