Seattle becomes first major U.S. city to ban straws

even pasta with a hole in the middle has been offered as a straw!

*walking down the street in Seattle*

Guy in alley wearing trench coat: Psst

Me: Yes?

Guy: Hey, you lookin’ to score some straws?

Me: I don’t know, man, it sounds risky.

Guy: I’ve got drinking, bendy, crazy, spoon, wide, and coffee stirrers.

Me: ...Load me up.

And San Francisco is literally livid with jealousy!

"By the way, the United States is responsible for almost none of the plastic in the ocean. 60 percent comes from Southeast Asia. 95 percent comes from Asia and Africa combined. That leaves 5 percent split between every western country. Your straw is not a problem."

Oh that's right, meant to come back to this thread but forgot.

For the record RE my prior post (#26): I heard it reported that, sippy cup lids are included in the ban.

They've been talking about this for a few years now. In a few years plastic straws will be gone.

Being progressive is all about warm and fuzzy do nothing ideas...

I know my stainless cups have a taste, but never seen anything off a plastic straw...

if California wants to eliminate plastic just ban boob jobs in Hollywood!

Who has the greatest chance of going to jail, an illegal criminal alien or a waiter who gives a plastic straw to a customer?

I see a whole new criminal enterprise springing up. Straw bootlegging. People will soon be standing outside Starbucks in trench coats selling loosie straws.
