I am going under the assumption that this is probably the reason.

Think about it for a bit. A few years ago, she was a nobody (I say that in a good way) running some small town on the edge of the earth. A few years later, she is under intense scrutiny and immense pressure, and not only her but her children are subjects of ridicule. Try and imagine how your mother (or you) would have reacted to this. I have little doubt that her and her husband had many "Why do we need this bullshit?" conversations. Not everyone wants to be President.

But there is good reason to believe that her resignation as Governor is a tacit admission that in order TO run for President she needs to be much more (and much bette)r conversant with serious international issues and players as well as much more conversant with a whole slew of National and local matters. IF she is going to run, having been through the mill this last election, maybe that tacit admission is VERY wise of her.
