Thanks for making me aware of St. Martin. I hadn't heard of his story before.

“The most-repeated story/legend about his life goes like this: One day, as a soldier in the Roman army, Martin was approaching the gates of the city of Amiens. There, he met a scantily clad beggar, and, impulsively, Martin cut his military cloak in half with his sword to share with the man to help him survive the cold. That night, Martin dreamed of Jesus wearing the half-cloak he had given away. In this vision, he heard Jesus say to the angels: ‘Martin, who is still but a catechumen (one new to the faith), clothed me with this robe.’

I never would have guessed the connection with Veterans' Day! Thanks for sharing the story!

As a new convert, I didn't know what to expect, but I prayed that my new Church members would remember to treat me as they would treat Jesus if He came back.

I was not disappointed. They are so loving that I'm certain they would treat the beggar the way St. Martin did.

and the story of Saint Martin is often re.enacted in the evening of the day.😊

with Martin on horseback ... and a poor beggar.
it is always impressive. 👍
.

I will share this with my friends from Church. We haven't heard it discussed.

exactly!

not the tiny hard ones ... those prezels
but the big and soft and freshly made warm Brezeln. 😍👍
.

I vividly remember a pretzel vendor on the street in downtown Seattle, back in the middle 70's. Until then, I'd never even heard of the warm, soft pretzels, and I was hooked ever since then. Sometimes, I liked them with grainy mustard and that chunky salt.

YUMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!

Since I quit eating wheat, pretzels are one thing I desperately miss!
