Unofficial, of course, because the Trump administration has no jurisdiction in Russia, but Trump did openly say asbestos is safe, and the EPA under Scott Pruitt has supported his viewpoint.

FYI. Nothing is unsafe, when handled correctly. Conversely, even oxygen will kill you, if handled improperly.
Can These Things Actually Kill You?

Asbestos has been a component of brake pads and linings, clutch facings and various gaskets for many years. The car you drive most likely has asbestos brake pads and linings. The asbestos industry in this country has been hamstrung from decades of EPA regulations and lawsuits so if we can get it cheaper from the Russians, that means fewer accidents on the roads.

Mesothelioma is the cancer caused by asbestos exposure. Brake pads and clutch linings have not used asbestos for many years. They are comprised of other elements.

Not so:

"Though asbestos brake linings have been mostly phased out, contrary to popular misconception they have not disappeared altogether. According to one original equipment brake supplier, Ford was still using asbestos linings as recently as 1993 on the Crown Victoria to cure a brake noise problem. The same supplier also said asbestos linings are still used on some high end import vehicles such as Land Rover because of their good braking characteristics. What's more, asbestos linings are still readily available in the aftermarket."

Asbestos Brake Dust Still A Hazard

Then there is the issue of millions of automobiles which have used asbestos-lined brakes for decades and decades. Where did you think all those asbestos fibers that rubbed off of them went to? Do you think they magically disappeared because the EPA passed a few laws? Most likely they're still mixed in with the dirt along the sides of the highways and roads all over this country. Any time a wind whips up the dust, you are most likely breathing in those fibers. Best thing to do is hold your breath for as long as you possibly can, or else you will surely die.

Who couldn't see progressives pushing for "NO BREATHING" signs to be erected?

Are you a russian paid troll? Thats the only explanation for this retarded thread.

I heartily endorse the erecting of No Breathing signs.

It depends on what KIND of Asbestos and how it is used. The worst kind has been banned for many years already. Here is a helpful link showing there are still many safe uses for Asbestos and that by nature it is all over the place anyway, NATURALLY:

"There is asbestos, and then there is asbestos... and all asbestos is not dangerous!
Asbestos a not a single, easily categorized substance such as carbon monoxide or radon. It occurs in a number of different forms and the risks posed by them vary considerably... from minimal to severe. Crocidolite and amosite asbestos, known as amphibole asbestos, are the most dangerous forms. Their fibers cling tenaciously to lung tissue while resisting the body's natural self-cleaning processes. This long term irritation to body tissue can lead to disease and death. Fortunately, these forms of asbestos have been banned for years though some may still exist in older homes.

Chrysotile asbestos, a less toxic form, comprises over 90% of all the asbestos used in the US. This form of asbestos is not nearly as persistent in lung tissue and low level intermittent exposure is not considered to be a health risk to a healthy person.

In fact, both OSHA and the EPA concur that asbestos is not dangerous unless airborne.
Even if airborne, many studies of asbestos workers indicate that it takes more than a casual exposure to asbestos dust to cause disease... even over periods as long as 15 to 30 years! Asbestos doesn't "radiate" danger and its mere existence in low levels in your environment is not automatically cause for alarm."

My best friend died of asbestos related cancer 14 years ago. The fact that all the "Conservatives" back the re-introduction of this material is just another example of their putting profit ahead of human life.

It is already legal for use, so what "re-introduction" are you talking about?

I had a friend who died of Asbestosis, which was due to his working with amphibole asbestos, now long banned for legal use. The other forms when applied correctly is not a danger to the public.

Lol....nobody buys the class warfare narrative anymore. Politically, it's a relic of a former era, though some out there in Radioland missed the memo!:113:

What do you think happened to those tons and tons of asbestos particles that were ground off of the brake linings for decades? Do you seriously think they magically disappeared or something?

Not hardly. The ground around every road, street, and highway in this country is saturated with asbestos particles and fibers, just waiting to be swept up by the wind and carried to all four corners of the country.

How about the asbestos they used in construction? They used it in everything: wiring, appliances, ceiling panels, insulation. How much of that asbestos dust ended scattered across the countryside when those houses were demolished or burned down? Perhaps it wasn't asbestos, but you do know how many people have died prior to the World Trade Center bombings, because of the massive cloud of dust it created, right?

The chances are that with every breath of air you take, you're breathing in not only asbestos fibers, but other things as well: What about all those particles of Strontium-90, Cesium-137, and other radioactive elements that were swept up into the upper atmosphere and blanketed the countryside, during the 1950's and 1960's nuclear weapons tests? Do you seriously think that shit just magically "disappeared" or something? All it takes is one minute speck to lodge deep within your lungs and you've got cancer.

There are still plenty of asbestos brake linings and pads around...
