Rush's Neil Peart, the Hall of Fame drummer who set a new standard for rock virtuosity, dies at 67

"Though he was known as one of the most important rock drummers in the history of the genre, Neil Peart’s talent as a lyricist can’t be overstated. He had that special ability to make you feel like someone, somewhere felt the same way you did. RIP" - Myles Kennedy of grunge band Alter Bridge

"My cousin gave me some Rush CD’s when I was 13, I immediately was hooked on Neil’s playing. When I was 14, we went & saw him play on the Snakes & Arrows tour. I love that my entire social media is flooded with nothing but for Neil Peart. I’m glad he’s no longer in pain. Thank you for the inspiration man. Rest easy." - The World Alive's Handsome Luke Holland

Consider yourself lucky, young man. When I was 13, we didn't even have scrolls. We wrote our lyrics on cave walls!

i was once at a Geddy Lee bass signing.

one man tried to tell him he saw Rush live and was convinced Geddy winked at him

"you're kind of a good looking guy, so it might have happened" - Geddy bellowed

the man was so deliriously happy with this answer that he was led away looking like he's been tasered!

What the MSM should not omit from his obituaries:

Neil Peart absolutely despised socialism and considered himself a "bleeding heart libertarian."

A great profile on him in The Guardian

Rush: 'You have no freedom. You do what you’re told to do. By the socialists'

Neil changed his views in 2015.

In fact he came out that year and said he supported the Democratic Party in a Rolling Stone Magazine interview in 2015.

Sorry about that but as he got older he changed his views.

Quote from the Federalist article:

Peart outgrew his Ayn Rand phase years ago, and now describes himself as a “bleeding-heart libertarian,” citing his trips to Africa as transformative. He claims to stand by the message of “The Trees,” but other than that, his bleeding-heart side seems dominant. Peart just became a U.S. citizen, and he is unlikely to vote for Rand Paul, or any Republican. Peart says that it’s “very obvious” that Paul “hates women and brown people” — and Rush sent a cease-and-desist order to get Paul to stop quoting “The Trees” in his speeches.

“For a person of my sensibility, you’re only left with the Democratic party,” says Peart, who also calls George W. Bush “an instrument of evil.” “If you’re a compassionate person at all. The whole health-care thing — denying mercy to suffering people? What? This is Christian?”

Neil Peart Has No Clue What He's Talking About

"So sad to learn Neil is gone. What a immense talent and influence on the course of rock music for all time.
He was such a magical cornerstone in the Temple of Rush. Rush is forever timeless" - Heart's Nancy Wilson
