Rural Hospitals Brace For the Apocolypse

States also have to step up their support for these institutions.... the feds can't do it all... if a hospital fails its on the state and county where they reside...
Dude, red states don't have the money for that!

Here in Kansas for instance they have given out so many tax cuts for wealthy folks that the coffers are empty.

High tax rates is what got us into this mess dummy... didn't you learn anything from 2017?... cutting tax rates helps the economy grow...

LOL, higher tax rates did not get us into this.
Sure they did...high taxes never help anyone or anything... if they did we would have been in great shape under Obama... even Bill Clinton cut tax rates and it boosted the economy...

They seem to think that making the country all white is somehow a win. They live in the 1950s, but the country was not all white then. It never has been.

They think that ging bc to those times will bring back prosperity, but they don't know how much the government invested in programs during that time, nor do they understand that the rest of the world was rebuilding out of the ruins created by WW2. We were the only industrialized country that still had the ability to manufacture things, and that's why things were so good. It is not that way now, and these idiots are cutting their throats.
That seems a reasonable explanation for a lot of what I see in these pages.

I would like nothing better than both parties to go extinct. The GOP is just determined to get there first.
It's not my circus but the Democratic Party establishment's reaction to the NY mayoral primary was a clear indication of its disconnect with its assumed share of the electorate.

  • Undocumented immigrants paid $96.7 billion in federal, state, and local taxes in 2022. Most of that amount, $59.4 billion, was paid to the federal government while the remaining $37.3 billion was paid to state and local governments.
  • Undocumented immigrants paid federal, state, and local taxes of $8,889 per person in 2022. In other words, for every 1 million undocumented immigrants who reside in the country, public services receive $8.9 billion in additional tax revenue.
  • More than a third of the tax dollars paid by undocumented immigrants go toward payroll taxes dedicated to funding programs that these workers are barred from accessing. Undocumented immigrants paid $25.7 billion in Social Security taxes, $6.4 billion in Medicare taxes, and $1.8 billion in unemployment insurance taxes in 2022.
  • At the state and local levels, slightly less than half (46 percent, or $15.1 billion) of the tax payments made by undocumented immigrants are through sales and excise taxes levied on their purchases. Most other payments are made through property taxes, such as those levied on homeowners and renters (31 percent, or $10.4 billion), or through personal and business income taxes (21 percent, or $7.0 billion).
  • Six states raised more than $1 billion each in tax revenue from undocumented immigrants living within their borders. Those states are California ($8.5 billion), Texas ($4.9 billion), New York ($3.1 billion), Florida ($1.8 billion), Illinois ($1.5 billion), and New Jersey ($1.3 billion).

If every household cut their spending by 1/2 that would spur on growth.

Fare more money is spent on illegals.

Not just in taxes, but we also have to pay higher medical bills and insurance to pay for them.

You’d think a supposed “black man” would be more concerned how to bring down costs for his own people. Funny you act more like some old white boomer with your virtue signaling.

“Our budget is pretty heavily reliant on the Medicaid reimbursement, so if we do see a cut of that, it’ll be difficult to keep the doors open,” said Sherman, who works at Webster County Community Hospital in the small Nebraska town of Red Cloud just north of the Kansas border.

If those facilities close, many locals would see their five-minute trip to Webster County hospital turn into a nearly hour-long ride to the nearest hospital offering the same services.

“That’s a long way for an emergency,” Sherman said. “Some won’t make it.”

Private for-profit hospital systems like mine will do well as we get new patients. Many won't pay but some will. Most just won't be able to afford to get sick. Trillions for tax cuts, but we can't afford millions for the health of our aging/rural population. Thats where we're at. A real shame.
It's happening across the planet, ageing populations, and the cost burden is put on the younger generations. It just gets unaffordable, healthcare and pensions struggle more and more as folk live longer.

More unsubstantiated Democrat bullshit.
America is not a country based on everyone gets free shit and don't have to get a job.
Yet 60+ percent of medicaid recepients have. job. Your “information” is incorrect.

Baseless partisan alarmism from the usual idiot suspects, like candyass. 🥱

You mean states should raise taxes?
No they should cut taxes and regulation and bring back jobs and investment... this will bring down debt. faster and for in the long term... you can't tax your way to a good economy....

It will erase 100 billion in tax dollars paid by illegal immigrants. We lose money.
Illegal aliens cost far more than their tiny tax contributions, a large chunk of their income goes back home in remittances, something that will now be slightly (3%) taxed. They don’t pay income tax because their admitted pay is so low.

What do you care. You're the ghoul who made a tombstone with my name on it that said, "Here lies Sweet Sue, someone did the world a favor".

Because of your crappy Covid vaccines.
