AI data centers are targeting unincorporated rural areas to bypass growing bans and regulations

Where did you pull that figure from?

Employees in Data Centers at Completion

When a data center is completed, the number of employees it has depends heavily on its size, automation level, and operational complexity.

Operational staffing (once online)

  • Hyperscale/efficient facilities (100+ MW): As few as 20–30 permanent staff per 100 MW due to high automation and standardized systems hamminstitute.org.
  • Regional/standard facilities (20–50 MW): About 24–30 operational FTEs per MW hamminstitute.org.
  • Enterprise/labor-intensive facilities (5–20 MW): Around 34–35 operational FTEs per MW hamminstitute.org.
  • Small facilities (1–5 MW): Typically 8–15 staff Broadstaff.
  • Medium facilities (5–20 MW): 15–35 staff Broadstaff.
  • Large facilities (20 MW+): 35+ staff Broadstaff.

So, AI informed you and you don't see the irony.

I am NOT opposed to data centers, period.

Now, they have to use power that THEY supply and they cannot touch the civilian grid and solve the heat issue, but again. I guess if you are opposed to jobs, it won't matter.

Data Centers can take years to build and that is 1000's of jobs.

It does seem like a lot.
I'm thinking that a data center will provide 100+ more jobs and bring significant economic prosperity with it.

A ftew bugs need to be worked out regarding power and water and those have to ben answered before going forward, but as I say.

I do not oppose data centers.

Well, they will replace the need for the education system, especially college. Too bad, I'll miss the sports.

I have more interest in what they can provide in the sciences and medicine.

I doubt that the Universities will be going away anytime soon.

Links were provided in the AI summary.

Yeah, jobs are mostly from the established "traveling circus" contractors.

Very little in the way of local firms are used. Maybe trucks to haul away dirt and such.
It is money spent in the local economy, and I think that it will benefit more than harm.

Well, they do keep all those skulls full of mush occupied for a few years.

Yeah, like that U of AZ guy someone posted about who said we would all be dead by 2026.

We might all die by AI's hand so maybe we can ask it for our expiration date. ;)
I'm due to expire this coming October (based on average longevity after triple bypass surgery).

Oh, we still get one or two that sneak in but by and large ours are Slow-Growth Independents.

Still and all even they can't do anything about by-right build-outs. My county is basically becoming a bedroom community of NOtVA.....Still around 78% right-leaning though.
Same with my community. Trump won by about 70% of the vote here.
