RIP Pete Rose

He was treated the way he deserved.

That said… he was a GREAT ball player and belongs in the H of F albeit with strong mentions on his plaque noting how he disgraced himself and the Game
May none of us get what we truly deserve.

Say what you want about Pete, warts and all, but to love something as much as he loved baseball, the passion is awe inspiring.

My mom got to meet him one time before his tax evasion prison sentence and again at some point after his prison sentence. She said that he was a different person after being in the pokey.

God bless you and my mom and his family always!!!

Holly

P.S. I was there during one of the times, but I do not remember which one it was. I was still a little kid then.

I saw Pete Rose in Canton in the summer of 2023. They need to put in the HOF.

Sad what Baseball did to him.

He was Charlie Hustle and always gave 100 percent
Now Baseball can screw him again and let him into the HOF

Member of the MLB Hall of Frame.

His statue is in the alcove just past that of the Black Sox

Odd that the Black Sox were banned but owner Charles Comisky was not.

The best Pitcher on the White Sox was Eddie Cicotte. He had a contract where he would get an $8,000 bonus if he won 30 games.
Cicotte got to 29 wins with three starts left. Comisky ordered he be benched and refused to give the bonus.

Any wonder why Cicotte agreed to throw the series?

What about Rose did to baseball by betting on his own team?

Because the Dowd report makes no such claims
So you think players and coaches should be able to bet on the games they are playing in as well as other baseball games? Interesting position to take.

I guarantee had he not had the unfortunate experience to have to face a pitcher he had never faced before when he was chasing DiMaggio’s 56 game hitting streak,he would have broken his record,he mentioned how he hated having to face a pitcher fir the first time.the guy was a hitting machine. That pitcher was pitching him like it was the 7th game of the World Series and the bottom of the 9th inning.he acted like it was the end of the world if he did not get rose out.crazy.

Rose is banned from the MLB baseball hof while shady brady and belicheat committ scandal after scandal and chest far worse than anything the black Sox did,yet they DONT banned from the nfl hall of shame,it’s a fucked up world.

Um, not likely.

They still haven't let Shoeless Joe Jackson in the Hall of Fame, and that guy didn't even take a bribe, he just didn't report the guys who did.

I am gong to be contrarian here.

Rose's offense involved gambling, betting on his own games. That put doubt into the integrity of the games he played, was he shaving points or making decisions to improve his bets.

Now, yeah, there are people who do far worse things in major league baseball such as spousal abuse and drugs. Those people need to be banned, too, especially the ones who did steroids in the 1990s.

As a Pirates fan, I hated Pete Rose, the way he spiked that ball after a putout at first base to end the inning. But I admired the way he played and tried to be like him. He deserves the Hall as a player. What he did was like cheating in grad school. It doesn't change what he did as an undergrad. That was Dan Patrick's comparison.

Shoeless Joe took money to throw the World Series ($10,000) It is claimed that he still played hard but he was still on line to throw the game if needed

Pete placed bets on the outcomes of games and even bet his own team to win. He is not accused of throwing games or accepting money to do so.

yea jackson should have been told to take a season off not banned for life....

They kept him out of the baseball HOF for gambling. If they kept people out of the R&R HOF for drug abuse it would be one big empty hall.

MLB legend Pete Rose has died at the age of 83, TMZ Sports has learned.

Rose, Major League Baseball's hit king, passed away earlier today at his home in Las Vegas.

Pete's agent, Ryan Fiterman of Fiterman Sports, confirmed the news, saying, "the family is asking for privacy at this time."

Hope he made his peace with the Lord
Don't bet on it!
