Mr. Pretti was shot roughly 10 times by immigration agents after he was apparently filming them with his camera.

He was licensed to carry a gun in Minnesota, but video from several angles shows he never pulled one, and his hands were visible as he was shot in the back.

Also, there is a video segment showing him pulling something from his pocket after his gun was taken away. Law enforcement probably thought he was drawing a gun. In the video shot it looked like ammo magazine or maybe a phone.

What both sides aren't getting is that the agents weren't planning to shoot him at all. Once they disarmed him that was supposed to be it. But the gun, a Sig Sauer P320, underwent something called a "neglegent discharge" in other words it went off in the disarming agent's hand without him touching the trigger.

That triggered a defense response from the agents attempting to restrain Pretti.

Sig Sauer P320s have a record of discharging like that. This was an accident.

Even so, Pretti ignored the advice of his parents not to go near ICE agents when he went out to protest.

In short, a defective gun and a disobedient son ignoring his parents caused this giant clusterf**k.
