Right Wing Media (and Politicians) Breaking With Trump Over Minneapolis Shooting Narrative

And now Republicans are too embarrassed to repeat Trump's nonsense.

A growing number of Republicans are pressing for a deeper investigation into federal immigration tactics in Minnesota after a U.S. Border Patrol agent fatally shot a man in Minneapolis, a sign that the Trump administration's accounting of events may face bipartisan scrutiny.

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Andrew Garbarino sought testimony from leaders at Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, saying "my top priority remains keeping Americans safe."

A host of other congressional Republicans, including Rep. Michael McCaul of Texas and Sens. Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, pressed for more information. Their statements, in addition to concern expressed from several Republican governors, reflected a party struggling with how to respond to Saturday's fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care nurse at a VA hospital.

Fox news contributor dismantles narrative

A former Washington, D.C. homicide cop called out the White House for misrepresenting Saturday’s shooting by a Border Patrol agent in Minneapolis in a stunning takedown on Fox News.

Appearing on Fox’s special coverage of the shooting Saturday night, the former cop, Ted Williams — who is now a Fox News contributor — was unsparing in his criticism of the White House, including Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. In a statement Saturday, Miller called Alex Pretti — the 37-year-old man who was gunned down Saturday — a “domestic terrorist.”

“I’ve gotta tell you, I’ve watched that videotape for at least about — let’s say, a hundred times — because I knew I was going to be coming on with you,” Williams told Fox News anchor Jon Scott. “And I wanted to speak as accurate as I can…And I do believe that there needs to be a complete investigation. I was taken aback by the White House who initially put out what I defined as misrepresentation of what took place there when you look at the video. It was said that Mr. Pretti was brandishing a weapon. Well, he was not brandishing the weapon. Yes, he did have a weapon. It was said by the White House that Mr. Pretti attacked those agents. No, he did not attack those agents. And one of the White House individuals called Mr. Pretti a domestic terrorist…this man is dead, he has a family, and to go out and call him a domestic terrorist without giving any more information is just unacceptable!”

Well, the Right Wing Media is in a bit of a fix here.

After YEARS of telling us that (white) people have a Second Amendment right to have guns on them, shooting a (white) guy merely for having a gun is something they don't want to normalize.
How did you come to the stupid conclusion that he was shot merely for having a gun?

Who brainwashed your feeble mind into believing that stupid lie?

Off topic. Regardless. You said something about women and children. I see neither in my post.

Then make it men. Go to the thread where I originally asked and answer there.

What's the comparison between innocent Jewish men being shot in the head at the edge of trenches and this man who was armed, interfering with law enforcement being shot?

Can you see the difference or are you a 13 yo girl

The SS didnt think that Jewish man was innocent, though he was. The SS ICE didnt think Alex was innocent, though he was.

Your characterization of Alex is libel and a lie. Be careful. The evidence is overwhelming.

But you will still vote for it.

Right, because it is unlikely I will support everything that any candidate or party does. I support the vast majority of Republican's policies. I oppose the vast majority of Democrat's policies.

voting for the lesser evil is still evil. You are why we are $39 trillion in debt.

You lean left with every just about every post here. Many, if not most, so called Independents do that. Socially liberal but economically conservative, but more and more the socially liberal side prevails with Independents.

Overall they are the same.

I'm pro-life. I'm 100% 2nd amendment. I fully support cuts to help balance the budget. I believe in leaving the Supreme Court at 9. I support the electoral college.

Come again?

So, in your warped and fevered mind, a man who was shot because he interfered in an ACTIVE POLICE INVESTIGATION that had nothing to do with him is JUST LIKE Nazi soldiers dragging innocent people out of their homes and shooting them in the head because they're Jewish?

Are you sticking by this for real?

Overall they are the same.

No, they are not the same.

You stated above that the party's were the same? These are Republican ideas, not Democratic ideas. Clearly they aren't the same.

All I know is that much like Mac, everything you post is against Republicans, or maybe it is just Trump. TDS is a real, bonified thing.

If the investigation finds that one or more agents acted inappropriately, then they need to be held responsible.

Still doesn't change the FACT, that this tragedy only occurred due to the constant harassment of our agents, and the chaos caused by the left.

No, they are not the same.

Sure, that's why Trump is murdering people over being legally armed and the debt is now $39 trillion with no end in sight.

Obviously you only see what you want.

"Right Wing Media" as described by communists = anybody who attempts to describe something that happened without spin.

I guess straight up murder and lying is a tad too far for the Wall Street Journal and possibly Fox News. Nothing seems too far for Newsmax though so you right wing idiots can turn to them for your news now. The dam on this lie is breaking.

The right wing family (Murdoch) owned Wall Street Journal came out with an article claiming that the leaders of the Federal Government are lying about their claims. The WSJ felt so strongly that they outlined a frame by frame breakdown of the bystander video that it authenticated. Its a brutal takedown of the federal version of events and paints a clearly illegal killing.

Even Fox News' main story says: "Federal officials initially claimed Pretti approached agents with a 9 mm handgun and resisted disarmament. Bystander video and eyewitness accounts circulating online raised questions about that version of events and whether Pretti was threatening officers when he was shot."

Murdoch Owned WSJ Concludes: Videos Contradict Feds Account of Minneapolis

Federal agents claimed Alex Pretti, 37, forced their hand, alleging he “violently resisted” disarmament until the officers fired “defensive shots.”

Bystander footage appears to tell a different story. A frame-by-frame review by The Wall Street Journal shows a federal officer pulling a handgun away from Pretti. Less than a second later, an agent fires several rounds. Pretti died at the scene.

“Where is the gun?” agents shouted in the chaotic aftermath.

Pretti, an intensive-care nurse, had been on a Minneapolis street Saturday morning and was filming Border Patrol agents. Videos appear to show what happened next.
The WSJ is not rightwing
