Debt-ceiling doomsday comes Oct. 17. Here?s what happens next.

We have a new date for the debt-ceiling limit. According to Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, doomsday will begin on Oct. 17.

That's according to a new letter Lew sent to House Speaker John Boehner. By Oct. 17, the Treasury Department will have exhausted all its options and will no longer have enough money on hand to meet all of its coming financial obligations. Either Congress lifts the debt ceiling then or... the federal government will have to default on some of its bills.
"We estimate that, at [Oct. 17], Treasury would have only approximately $30 billion to meet our country's commitments," Lew wrote. "This amount would be far short of net expenditures on certain days, which can be as high as $60 billion."
At the moment, default is a distinct possibility. House Republicans have argued that any hike of the debt ceiling should include certain conditions attached, such as a one-year delay of Obamacare's individual mandate. The White House sharply opposes attaching any conditions to a hike and has said it won't negotiate on this matter.

Why Republicans resent the idea of grown adults taking individual responsibility for themselves by opting into healthcare exchanges that will help reduce costs for all of us is just more "blacktracking" by Republicans, who only hate the Obama part of Obamacare, a law they would have cheerfully voted for had a Republican President been in charge and not a black, progressive Democrat.

I no longer recognize the Republican party. They used to be a party of respectable gentlemen with can-do attitudes. Now, they're a bunch of cry-babies shutting down the government because they hate Obama and refuse to accept last year's election results.

Passed through a temporary Majority, and you lost the house primarily due to Obamacare.

I've got news for you buddy, Our economy stinks. We are still a couple of million jobs short of the labor force in 2007, and this after the Gov't has funneled nearly 2 trillion into the system. Only a completely inept Gov't could spend so much and accomplish so little.

Finally, on the labor figures most of the gains are part time. And now a large segment of business is reducing hours to part time to avoid the penalties of the mandate.

The Dems recognized it, so they suspended it for a year until after the mid term elections hoping to stop the rising tide of full time employees going part time.

All of this due to Obamacare and the Stupid way it was written.

Finally, the Upper middle class those outside the subsidy areas are getting slammed by increases to their Health premiums BY DESIGN hurting their financial situation. But you assholes don't care about them. As many lose their coverage because they can't afford it. Yet you keep reporting the lowered costs in the FPL areas saying it's successful. Of course they are lowered as a matter of law. They are lower because they are subsidized at the expense of others.

aka You damage hard working Americans to benefit the lower wage earners in another Welfare Program. Your side PURPOSELY LIED on how much it would cost the Fed by Cherry picking data on passage. And now the price tag has doubled. Furthering our debt problem.

Finally, as I've been saying, and shown again in the article posted. The Treasury has been cooking the books since May. They openly admit it. Which is why the debate is for SO MUCH MORE MONEY FOR 2 MONTHS OF FUNDING.

The GOP offered a 988 bILLION DEAL, AND THE DEMS wanted over a Trillion. These funds for 2 months. Expected revenues of 400 Billion in the time frame, meaning the debt will increase by roughly 600 Billion in 2 months.

So we get another show down in December............

Again, why the delay when this should have occurred this summer................
