Republicans put the brakes on taxing AIG bonuses

Good! I hope they stick to their guns and stop this unconstitutional move all together.

why does everyone assume that the folks that were going to be bonused were the very same people that tanked the company.....they were retention bonuses....which means the guy the govt hired to run aig for a dollar wanted them there to help him fix this mess.......

now tell me.....suppose you are a genius patriotic banking wiz......like say toro.....would you go to work for aig to help our abusive rude congress folks fix this mess......

About half of these bonuses are overseas - this lame ass attempt at political posturing by the Democrats regarding an issue they themselves were complicit in, via an unconstitutional use of the tax code, is yet more evidence the DC political winds are blowing everything to hell.

Good on the Senate Republicans for bringing some measure of responsibility to Congress - and shame on those Republicans in the House who voted on this yesterday. Morons...

About half? It's so like Republicans to make some claim like that and then proceed to call their party responsible.

How did we know the party of no would say no?

Well, somebody has to say no! ;)

Just imagine how much of a spoiled brat you would be if your parents never told you no.

Immie

it would seem based on emperical evidence that they never did say it .....

Who cares it was just a joke anyway and besides until they are all done voting for it, whether they say no or not really doesn't matter. They are politicians... tonight they might be saying no F'ing way, but when it comes to voting for it, there will be some reason that they have to "bite the bullet" and vote for it before they vote against it in order to actually vote for it. Ain't that how it works?
