They aren’t wacko but defunding the police isnt mainstream. Neither is school loan forgiveness. Nor is the green new deal. HOWEVER all of those are aspiration ideas that have a more nuanced and palatable solutions: Biden’s environmental compromise with Bernie, funding for mental health and police education, public service loan forgiveness, bankruptcy loan revisions. They generally pin the accelerator down on ideas. Democrats are actually moderate. Not everyone like that.

Actually, the polling suggests that their ideas are more mainstream than advertised. Just check the polling on the issues.

The Blacks in NYC and Chicago are screaming for more cops but that might put you out of business.

There are multiple examples I’m the link. I’d have to paste the whole article in because it’s so thorough. Take the assault on roe v wade in Texas where laws are being passed to circumvent it or any number of election legislation being passed.

1. Everyone can see that the democrat (defund, no bail, no prosecution) policies are NOT working for law abiding citizens.
2. There is no assault on Roe v Wade. If the laws are not legal the USSC will tell us.
3. Same with the states revising election laws, 1t is their Constitutional right to run elections, if unless the USSC steps in.

Unlike dictatorships, where “law” is a flimsy facade that autocrats use to further their interests and to intimidate and confuse opponents, Western democracies, conservatives once boasted, delinked the power of the ruler from the operation of the law, making the latter supreme.


No more. Since the disgraced former president took office, Republicans have adopted a different notion of the law. They seek to render it unpredictable, increase the discretion of the state (when their side is in control), and attempt to accomplish what would otherwise be politically untenable through misdirection and harassment.

In short, Republicans are taking refuge in Kafkaesque rule-making that empowers individuals and state authorities to harass, intimidate and confuse Americans attempting to exercise their fundamental rights. The law becomes a partisan tool to wage against opponents and to further otherwise unpopular social objectives (e.g., criminalizing abortion). It is a recipe for partisan legal administration and election nullification. If they cannot win elections and defend their policy objectives, Republicans appear willing to burn down democratic elections and “equal justice under the law.”
